About this audiobook
A quiet neighborhood. A lovely home. A promising new beginning. In a heartbeat everything can change in this propulsive novel of suspense by USA Today bestselling author Kaira Rouda.
Julie Jones has left her suffocating marriage. With her teenage daughter, Jess, she’s starting over. Their new house in Oceanside is the first step toward a new life. Even if it does come with the unexpected. The previous owners, a pastor and his wife, have left something—or rather someone—behind…
Tom Dean has a bitter hatred for the father who considers him a lost cause, and for the woman who’s moved into their family’s house. The only home he’s ever known. He’s never going to leave. She thinks he’ll be gone in three days, but Tom has the perfect plan.
For a newly single mother and her daughter, a fresh start is the beginning of a nightmare. Before the weekend is over, somebody is going to get exactly what they deserve.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Very predictable and very slow moving! Could’ve been a few more twists & turns to make it worth listening to the end
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It’s a fast paced psychological thriller about two families & how one person's actions can have a rippling effect with those around them. The story is told from many different points of view but it was easy to follow along! It also gives the reader the chance to learn about each character's relationship with each other! There's a lot going on but it's a quick easy read with plenty of characters and drama to keep you engaged! Happy reading everyone!

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Somebody’s Home by Kaira Rouda is the story of two families who have one house in common. Julie has left her wealthy and negligent husband and moves to a suburb, which causes major problems with her teenage daughter. The previous owners of Julie’s new home are a pastor and his family. As part of the sale contract, the pastor’s adult son Tom will remain in the small cottage in the home’s backyard for a few extra days. Tom does not wish to leave his family home to strangers and refuses to move. And there the trouble begins and the tension will progressively build until the very end. The novel’s storyline is original and well-developed. The characters are troubled, flawed and interesting, making this a worthwhile read. This is my first book written by Kaira Rouda but I would not hesitate to read more. I highly recommend Somebody’s Home. Thank you to Thomas & Mercer, NetGalley and the author for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book starts out fairly innocently, but it soon becomes clear that there is something not quite right with Tom, the son of the previous owners. He is supposed to vacate the carriage house in three days, but he does not want to leave. The tension quickly ramps up when Tom becomes obsessed with Julie’s daughter Jess.Rouda captured the sense of entitlement that the Jones family and their “friends” exhibited. But the phrase that comes to mind after they are caught up in a couple of scandals is “the mighty have fallen.” Rouda dished up her usual set of characters that we love to hate. I can’t say I liked any of the characters. It was more like they got what they deserved. But I did enjoy the various points of view throughout the book. I got a better grasp of the various issues through those views. Rouda did a masterful weaving of several storylines that eventually come together with an explosive conclusion. I was kept in suspense and could not put the book down until I reached the end.I received an Advance Review Copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Julie Jones has the life…or so she thought. Appearances matter in her toney community, and Julie has had her share of plastic surgery. Now at a crossroads, she leaves her rich husband and buys a house on the other side of town, and takes her entitled daughter with her. She buys this home from a ‘Preacher’ who has his own issues, only one being his disturbed son…who is allowed to stay in the “guest house” for another weekend after settlement. While it was good story, there were many storylines going on and I found all the characters totally unlikeable. Yes, some had redeeming characteristics that came out much too late and not all that convincing. So many holes in the story, but fairly fast moving. Predictable ending. I think I would have enjoyed this book more if some of the characters were more relatable, and showed better growth. Thanks to Ms. Rouda, Thomas & Mercer, and NetGalley for this ARC. Opinion is mine alone.
