About this audiobook

Welcome to the neighborhood. Watch your husband, watch your friends, and watch your back.

Cat Winthorpe has worked hard to get what she has: a gorgeous home; social standing; and William, her successful, handsome husband. Then a friendly new couple moves into the estate next door. While cautious, a good neighbor like Cat greets them with open arms and warm hospitality.

Neena Ryder isn’t a fellow lady of leisure. A life coach with off-the-rack dresses, personal issues, and a husband who hasn’t delivered, she’s anxious to move up in the world. This beautiful new town is a step in the right direction. It’s also making Neena aware of what she doesn’t have. Namely, William. When Neena’s infatuation escalates into obsession, it’s just a matter of eliminating a few obstacles to get the life she wants. The life next door.

As Neena’s secret fixation grows, so does her friendship with Cat. But beneath their cordial interactions is a wealth of temptations, secrets, and toxic jealousy. For both women, the desire for a perfect life can turn perfectly dangerous.

Terrible book. The characters are superficial and unrealistic. Listening was a complete waste of time.

Not sure why it was so hard for me to stay interested in this one. I kept zoning out and having to go back. I have read a lot of AR Torre books and usually like them but this one was not the most memorable

Interesting - I’ve never disliked sooo many characters before in one book, but the main characters in this one were seriously messed up, selfish and indifferent to any level of morality! Made for an interesting read/listen.

It was ok, quite enjoyed it. One of those far fetched tales that you just have to go with.

The story was ok, but, I didn't care for the narrators.

This was an Amazon first reads book.
I get that I am not the target audience for this book, but you have to suspend most logical linear thinking to get through this. The story is so over the top, it is like a combination of Harrold Robbins, Danielle Steele, and Sidney Sheldon all in one book.
The problem is none of the characters is very likable so anything bad that happens to them- as a reader I didn’t care. And bad stuff happens.
This new trend of books about sociopathic narcissistic women, is starting to a little repetitive.
If you are laying by the pool this will be perfect.

Bad people behaving badly. How many narcissist can screw up other people's lives? These characters are clearly made up and that takes you out of the book the whole time. Even the good guy had a dark side.

    Are you the jealous type?

@BrillanceAudio sent me “Every Last Secret” by AR Torre this week and I couldn’t wait to listen to it. Audiobooks are such a great escape for me. When I began listening and heard the voices of 2 of my favorite narrators, I was even happier!

Kat Winthorp is “that” woman that everyone wants to be... and has the husband who dotes on her. When he hires a new woman to work with him and she conveniently moves in next door, Kat has her suspicions. Trying not to be jealous, she’s leading with her gut and her gut says that this new woman is on the prowl!

There isn’t a lot of action in the beginning of the book, but it picks up on the last 40% or so. Plenty of backstabbing and secrets in this novel for everyone. The plot was good and the scenes were well placed and easy to visualize, but it just felt like something was missing.

The narrators selected to play the two women were perfect. Kat’s voice oozes elegance whereas the other has a smoky, seductive tone to it. I really feel that the audio brought this to life better than if I’d have read it myself.

It publishes December 1st on audio!

2.5 starsAlthough I liked the premise of a dysfunctional female friendship, the pacing was inconsistent and the plotting implausible. I enjoyed Torre’s A Good Lie so was really looking forward to reading this. But it was a let-down. Despite of figuring out the predictable twist, I had hoped the end would make up for it. It didn’t.

Cat Winthorpe has worked hard to get what she has: a gorgeous home; social standing; and William, her successful, handsome husband.

Then Cat's husband, William, hires Neena Ryder at his company. Neena and her husband move into the estate next door. While cautious, Cat like a good neighbor, greets them with open arms and warm hospitality.

Neena isn’t a fellow lady of leisure. A life coach with off-the-rack dresses, personal issues, and a husband who hasn’t delivered, she’s anxious to move up in the world. And has firmly set her target on William.

When Neena’s infatuation escalates into obsession, it’s just a matter of eliminating a few obstacles to get the life she wants. The life next door.

For both women, the desire for a perfect life can turn perfectly dangerous.

The book begins with Neena being interrogated by the police as a possible murder suspect. Right from there I was hooked onto the plot right till the end.

This entire plot felt like a game of chess. Both the women were equally cunning and shrewd. I felt that were perfectly pitted against each other. While one was loud in her actions, the other was more calculative and organized.

At the end it came down to one big mistake- Never underestimate your opponent!

I don’t think have ever enjoyed reading any other cat fight among two women as much as I did in this book. The main reason for that being, both of the women are so unlikable. However, I was actually pleasantly surprised at the show of compassion at the end, I think for me that was unexpected.

    Overall, an excellent domestic thriller!

Every Last Secret by A.R. Torre is a 2020 Thomas & Mercer publication. Criminally Good!! Cat Winthorpe has everything Neena Ryder desires- a rich, successful, handsome husband, a place in society, and a beautiful home. But that’s okay- Neena has landed a job as a life coach, working for Cat’s husband, William. She may be living in a house Cat considers a neighborhood eyesore, her clothes may not be designer quality, and she may be currently locked out of the various committees and clubs required for social standings, but she knows how to seduce a man, and she’s made William Winthorpe her target. Before long, she’ll be the one living the charmed life Cat currently enjoys… Cat Winthorpe welcomed Neena and her husband into the neighborhood, but her senses soon become hyper-aware when Neena seems to always be right where she and William are, always texting about non-work related subjects. Something is off about Neena and Cat is starting to suspect she’s up to something- and she has pretty good idea what that might be. Neena may think her plans are foolproof- but she’s never matched wits with Cat Winthorpe!! This book made its rounds on GRs garnering high praise from many of the reviewers, I trust, (back when I could see their reviews and they could see mine. ?) Finally, my curiosity got the best of me and I checked it out of the KU library. What a fun cat and mouse game! No real likable characters in this one- but one might find themselves rooting for one or the other at times. The fun comes from watching the two women try to outdo one another as the competition heats up between them. All the planning and scheming, the huge egos, and the insane lengths the women go through is appallingly entertaining. While it’s a small amount of consolation, when all is said and done, there is some character growth in the end. Personally, what I thought the ladies really should have been going for, was their own success without needing a man to validate them. These women had the talent to plan, organize, and manipulate which would have carried them far if they had only used those skills to create their own wealth and social standings. In fact, they might have made a great business team. But that’s probably deeper than the book is intended to be. Overall, this was fun, catty, and very, very suspenseful novel. I was all in- finding it hard to put the book down. It was a super fast read- as I also added audio- which was well-done, as well. So, for all those who wrote great reviews for this book- thanks for putting it on my radar!!

4.5 stars rounded up to a 5. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer seems to apply here. Meet Cat (naturally beautiful, mega rich, married to hunky businessman William) and Neena (wanna be, master manipulator, beautiful and sexy/bought and paid for, married to sweet, devoted Matt). The book opens with Neena being interrogated for attempted murder, you get a sense of her personality from the first pages. Cat’s personality develops at a slower pace. The book is told from both point of views, going back and forth, with an occasional interrogation thrown in until they all tie together in the end. Cat is everything and has everything that Neena wants and deserves as Neena will stop at nothing to get it! But, one will find out to never underestimate anyone and the other will find out to trust no one. I really enjoyed everything about this book; the slow burn, character development, the writing and the way the author showed enough of her hand to allow the reader to guess but still had enough twists to make it fun. This books is a perfect gift for a book-loving friend to find under their tree! Thanks to A.R. Torre, Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for this ARC. Opinion is mine alone.
