About this audiobook

For urban-legend hunter and television host Gabe Powers, it’s business—investigate the most notorious haunted places in Savannah. Then he meets his new sound engineer, a dewy Georgia peach who may just turn this gig into (im)pure pleasure. All it takes is one night for them to conjure floor-rattling, wall-banging moans…but they’re not from the ghosts.

Blame the rippling abs, the cocky swagger, the granite jawline, the whole muscle-bulging package, but Gabe is bringing out good-girl Lily Jameson’s dirty side. Damn her code-of-conduct contract—this isn’t just a molten-hot fling.

There’s just one kink in the relationship they’ve been avoiding: soon they’ll be going their separate ways. Lily’s home is in Savannah, and Gabe is a globe-trotter at heart. For them to be together, they’ll both have to upend their so-very-different worlds and face their fears in the process. And suddenly things don’t feel so Georgia peachy keen at all.

I loved Gabe & Lily's sweet love story! It's not full of angst, twists and turns, does-he-or-doesn't-she. There are fun characters, great voices, a good story, totally believable obstacles to be overcome (of course) and adorable lead characters. It'll be good for your soul!

The synopsis of this book appealed to me. I like Savannah. The city is a charming character in itself. I like the idea of incorporating a paranormal investigation themed TV show into a book’s plot. Giving the female lead the job of sound engineer is a cool, feminist nod to breaking stereotypes. However, along the lines of a Scooby Doo plot, I had pulled the mask off Professor Wayne in his Caveman costume long before the book concluded. This book was a bait and switch. I lost interest but not before being mildly offended. I DNF at Chapter 26.

I chose the format of an audiobook which featured alternating his and her narrators for Gabriel and Lily. Rather than sex scenes being part of the plot, this book seemed more like the plot was second and the primary purpose was to provide erotica. If someone’s watching a porn movie where a plumber comes to the door to fix the woman’s pipes, and the viewer expect superb acting and the plot to take center stage, I would blame the viewer for having unrealistic expectations and being naïve. The primary purpose of that porn movie is to provide visual pornography; show some skin. With this book, I’m not taking the blame in a similar fashion for expecting a romance with some sex scenes rather than a written porno. The author was referred as a good romance writer on Reddit. The synopsis doesn’t signpost that this is sex fantasies dressed up as a novel.

I was offended by the lack of either Gabe or Lily taking responsibility for safe sex. Their conduct around safe sex was abysmal. He doesn’t offer to use a condom until he is about to come. That’s not surprising if he were a teen trying to go all the way with a wimpy girl crushing on him. But for smart adults who should know better, that’s a recipe for pregnancy, genital warts or other STDs.
