About this audiobook

At a singles auction where no one was bidding on love, a warmhearted ER nurse finds herself dating a prickly doctor in this enemies-to-lovers lesbian romance.

Ellie Fisher loves most things about being a nurse in the emergency department . . . just not working with Regina Novak, an icy attending physician who acts as if she's God's gift to medicine.

The dislike is completely mutual. Regina thinks Ellie is a starry-eyed romantic with a sentimental attitude that has no place at work.

When Regina gets talked into volunteering at a singles auction, Ellie accidentally bids on her—and ends up winning. Oops!

Since the money raised is for a good cause, they reluctantly decide to go through with the dates.

Thanks to a baking class that turns into a competition and a hot-as-hell road trip snack incident, the ice between them starts to thaw. Is it possible the ER isn't the most unromantic place on earth after all?

Contains mature themes.

Author

Jae

Jae grew up amidst the vineyards of southern Germany. She spent her childhood with her nose buried in a book, earning her the nickname "professor." The writing bug bit her at the age of eleven. For the last seven years, she has been writing mostly in English. She works as a psychologist. When she's not writing, she likes to spend her time reading, indulging her ice cream and office supply addiction, and watching way too many crime shows.

It is good to get a new book from Jae, as she seemed to be on hiatus for a while. A great read as always.

Another excellent book by one of my favourite authors. However, I think it would have been better with a different narrator.

It's a long story, but a very humorous one. I did a lot of giggling.

One of my new favorite Jae books. I fell in love with the characters. So much so, that I feel sad every time I realize again that I finished the book and won’t get to spend time with them anymore. :,)

Beautifully developed story that sucks you in and instantly has you cheering for the main characters to overcome their inhibitions. Funny and witty dialogue keeps the story light, even when dealing with difficult topics. The chemistry between the couple is almost palpable! As usual, Jae delivers.

Shoutout to Lori Prince, who is quickly becoming one of my favourite narrators. She has a way of bringing characters to life in a more playful manner that adds an extra bit of seasoning to the story.

    Highly recommended ??

    So many fun tropes!
Jae is pretty much an automatic purchase author for me. And this one hit some of my favorite tropes. I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Lori Prince. I didn't hear any mistakes in the book. I do have minor issues with some of Lori Prince's pronunciation, though: Real-eye-zation instead of realization, ashphalt instead of asphalt and prefably instead of preferably. I loved this story. It has drama and humor and romance. I really liked the main characters. They seemed real, as did the supporting characters. I loved watching Regina process her thoughts on things, and make adjustments. And the dating activities were really fun. I also liked the connection to the Fair Oaks books. And the medical aspects were really interesting and informative. This book might be a new favorite, but it's really hard to top Wrong Number, Right Woman.

Not that much drama or plot to justify being this long a book, honestly, I was expecting a few more plot twists or a bombshell along 2/3 of the book, but nothing...and to top it off, Lori's narration is not my favorite, I can't stand how screechy her voice is several times, or how she drags the last syllable of some words, it's really annoying!
Also, both her MCs' voices are a bit hard to tell apart sometimes, you end up not knowing who said what, thankfully this doesn't happen in key moments, but still...
Anyways, I guess that after listening to so many audio books in the same genre while having top narrators such as Angela Dawe and Abby Craden doing their magic...let's just say they've both set the bar much too high for anyone else (in my opinion).

My cheeks hurt from all the smiling I was doing listening to this book. Loved Ellie’s kind but take no BS attitude and loved how Regina was only willing to melt for Ellie. Narration was amazing and conveyed all the emotions the story had.
