About this audiobook

An insatiable attraction heats to the boiling point in this steamy book set in the shore town of Sea Breeze from the author of the white-hot The Vincent Boys.

Preston is one bad boy. And Amanda has harbored a crush on him for forever. When she finally makes her move on him, it does not end well. But still, she can’t resist him. Especially now that he seems to be pursuing her, too.

No one wants wants them to be together. Not Amanda’s brother Marcus, who is on the verge of his marriage to Low, and definitely not any of Preston’s buddies. They know way too much about Preston’s dark side. Even Preston realizes he’s not good enough for someone like her.

But Amanda believes there is more to Preston than his bad boy persona, and she is determined to unearth what he’s hiding behind his seductive blue eyes—secrets that could explain his actions. Secrets Amanda might not be able to forgive.

Yet the dangerous attraction persists...and neither Preston nor Amanda is going to deny it.

booknook — Young Adult book reviewsDisclaimer: I haven't read any other books in the Sea Breeze series. Someone told me reading the other books wasn't necessary to read Just for Now, but maybe not having read the previous books affected my take on the book. Just keep that in mind!I stared reading Just for Now because I was desperate for something sexy. Desperate. DESPERATE. I didn't care what book I read, I just wanted a good story and hot and heavy stuff to help me pull through the "I'm missing my boyfriend like crazy" phase. Coincidentally, someone's review of Just for Now showed up on my Goodreads feed, raving about how sexy it was. So I ran off, bought the book, and started reading. This book has good points and bad points. The good points: Just for Now fulfilled exactly what I wanted it to fulfil—it was sexy. There isn't loads of sex—only like 3 scenes—but it's there. And Preston is obviously a very sex-oriented guy.The bad points: I didn't understand why Amanda was so obsessed with Preston. As a reader, we do get to see his sensitive side, which is attractive. But Preston kept that sensitivity hidden from the rest of the world, so Amanda had no idea it existed. To Amanda, Preston wasn't a sensitive brother who cared for his family and provided for them. He was a complete and utter jerkface playboy.. oh, and he was hot. Preston was a total douchebag to Amanda. He did have his reasons (which I'll talk about later), but that's why I didn't understand why Amanda was so obsessed with him. She didn't even get a glimpse of his sensitive/sweet side until the second half of the book (long after she became obsessed with him). That really made me think that Amanda only liked Preston because he was hot, which kind of annoyed me.Preston had it in his head that he wasn't good enough for Amanda. She was a rich, innocent young girl and he was a poor, rude, man whore. I can understand where his "I'm not good enough for you" feelings came from, but it kind of started to bug me when he talked about it every single time he saw Amanda. And he had terrific timing . At one point, he let his horniness take over and things got hot and heavy with Amanda. He was in the middle of fingering her, she was close to climax, and that was when he remembered that he wasn't good enough for her. So he stopped, said "Sorry I shouldn't have done that," and got up to leave, cutting her off just before an orgasm. Talk about leaving a girl hanging.Furthermore, the story starts off with Preston and Amanda having sex. Horrible sex. Really, really bad. Because Preston was drunk out of his mind. Why, then, does Preston spend the rest of the book dreaming about how amazing it was? And why does Amanda even remember it fondly? She was in pain and only felt pleasure for about a second. But then we get quotes like these: "Every night, Manda. Every damn night I dream about you. About how sweet you tasted. How incredible you felt. It's driving me crazy."—Preston "But it felt good. Really, really good. Better than any of the times I'd fantasized about."—Amanda Maybe I would have been more invested in their relationship if there actually was a fond sexual memory. But it was horrible! Even Amanda—a virgin with low standards—couldn't have thought that sex was amazing.I think the rest of my negativity towards this book comes from the fact that it was so generic. I must be getting tired of the cookie cutter "Bad playboy changes his ways for innocent girl" books, and that's exactly what this story is. It wasn't horrible, I just don't feel like it brought anything new to the table. If you haven't read as many books like that as I have, you might really enjoy Just for Now. But I've read Pushing the Limits and Beautiful Disaster, both of which are similar—but much better—books. And compared to those, Just for Now just doesn't cut it.To be fair, I wasn't bored or clawing my eyes out while reading Just for Now. I got through it really quickly and it did entertain me. Many of the side characters are interesting enough that I will consider reading other books in the Sea Breeze series. But overall, I just wasn't head over heels about this book.

So very very sleepy, hope i'm not about to write gibberish, read this straight through nonstop.

I'm very anal about reading from Book one and up in a series, never thought I would read a book out of order. But I came across an excerpt of Just For Now from the Sea Breeze series at the back of another book and what I read made me immediately wanted to read this wonderful story. And I mean immediately, I went ahead and purchased the book and read it immediately(too), I love Preston's and Amanda's love story. Preston will always have a special place in my heart as one of the best good bad guys. (Hope that makes sense). He has the bad boy image down packed but he has a heart of gold. Manda wanted Preston and she will do whatever it takes to get her guy. Preston also wants Manda, but he thinks she's too good for him and he's no good for her. I enjoyed following Preston and Amanda's journey to finding each other and making it work. I was glad I got to read both Amanda's and Preston's POV's, it gave me a better understanding of both. And now I want to read the other books in the series after seeing the background characters through Preston's and Amanda's eyes. This time I think I will go back to starting from book one though. Hard habit to break. Abbi Glines has done it again with her wonderful storytelling.

I honestly have no idea as to why I chose to read this. It came as a recomendation from my friend, so I gave it a try. But with my history with Abbi Gline's books, and my tendency to dislike them, I should have KNOWN I would not like this book. I ended up skimming large portions of the book.

The thing that bugged me the MOST was that this book follows the typical, cliche romance, probably to a much larger extent than others. It really annoyed me and I think that this, and my disliking of the characters, led to the one-star rating that this book has recieved from me.

And that's beside the fact that the plot was terribly boring.

Since this isn't really my kind of genre, and I'm into books containing supernatural elements plus nonstop action, it is no surprise that this book did not satisfy me. Well, at least now I know to steer clear of this genre and stay in my comfort zone.

So, if you're like me, more likely than not, you will be bored by this book. However, if you are a true fan of contemporary novels with a cliche romance, then this is definetly the book for you.

Umm I devoured this book. Honestly, it was that good, even though some of the scenes weren't much to my taste, but I had to get over it.

I'm not going to write a full review though.

Well, I was surprised about the level of maturity of this book considering that this is published under the YA arm of Simon & Schuster. But the writing is really good and I really felt the connection between the two leads which I believe is the heart of the story. I would have given it five stars if not for the heroine's reaction during the big reveal.

Given her strong feelings to the hero, she should have been more open and understanding to the hero's predicament and not just left him immediately after knowing that he is a gigolo. You shouldn't desert the person you loves. You should love and accept the person DESPITE of his flaws. I felt that Amanda judged Preston's being wholly on his being a gigolo and he isn't defined only by that. She should have connected Preston's care for her younger siblings and the negligent, irresponsible mother, to them being poor as to Preston's present state of being a gigolo. I would have stomach it more if Amanda got pissed off not because of his profession but the fact that he didn't trust her enough to confide in her. The story would have been richer if she stood by him on that moment and it is interesting to see how they would cope with the gigolo situation.

With that being said, it seems to me that at the end, Amanda went back together with Preston when he switch to a more acceptable job. It seems to me that if Preston have gone on with his gigolo ways, we would not have the hea we are hoping for the two. I hate that Amanda was conditional with her love for Preston.

    P.S.

I do not endorse the fact that the hero is a gigolo. In fact I was very glad that he had found a more respectable job but I really wished that Amanda was there for him as he made that transition.
