About this audiobook

Hannah Morrissey's Hello, Transcriber is a captivating mystery suspense debut featuring a female police transcriber who goes beyond the limits to solve a harrowing case.

Every night, while the street lamps shed the only light on Wisconsin’s most crime-ridden city, police transcriber Hazel Greenlee listens as detectives divulge Black Harbor’s gruesome secrets. An aspiring novelist, Hazel believes that writing a book could be her only ticket out of this frozen hellscape, but her life isn’t exactly brimming with inspiration. Until her neighbor confesses to hiding the corpse of an overdose victim.

With an insider’s look at the investigation, Hazel becomes spellbound by the lead detective, Nikolai Kole, and the chilling narrative he shares with her. Through his transcription, she learns that the suspicious death is linked to Candy Man—a drug dealer notorious for selling illegal substances to children—and when Kole invites her on a covert operation to help take the dealer down, the promise of a story calls to her. As the investigation unfolds, Hazel will discover just how far she will go for her story, even if it means destroying her marriage, her career, and any chance she has of getting out of Black Harbor alive. Because if she’s learned one relentless truth about this place, it’s the fact that everybody lies.

"Narrator Angela Dawe assumes a millennial's exasperated tone, endearing listeners to Hazel Greenlee, a wannabe novelist." -- AudioFile

This was a very interesting and enjoyable, book to listen to - i thought the Narrator did a great job… I had read some of the reviews/comments beforehand and several criticized the narrator in her pronunciation of certain words in the audio version. After listening, I picked up a few, and had to LOL because as I am from Wisconsin, and KNOW how we pronounce certain words like”bag’ “ dollar’ “ roof’ and “Bagel’, the narrator actually did a great job in mimicking the Wisconsinite ‘ Dialect’. The story was well written, with interesting characters plot w twists - usually I can figure out the ending, but this one actually surprised me.

This book is so good. So many twists and turns. It's written beautifully. Such a good story, great details, and great characters. The narrator even got the Wisconsin accent!!!

Some sex scenes; some swear words.

Horrible narrator cannot pronounce basic words (this was certainly the first time I have heard bagel pronounced "bag" "El" rather than "baygal" as it should have been, and errogenoous was so butchered it took me 5 minutes to figure out what the word was. She would prob do fine if she looked up words she had no clue to pronounce (clue - there are TWO ways to pronounce w-i-n-d, look it up. Is there NO quality control / editor associated with audiobooks? Someone needs to preview these things BEFORE THEY ARE RELEASED. Also, narrator needs to learn difference between wind (as in the wind blows) and wind (with a 'long e' as in a winding road or wind your watch, when one had to perform such actions). Winding road is wind as in "the pitcher winds up before throughing the ball"...
