About this audiobook

In Ben Coes' latest, Eye for an Eye, Dewey Andreas faces the toughest odds of his life as one of China's most powerful men has decided to do whatever he must to take down Dewey—and inflicts a horrifying loss.

When Dewey uncovers the identity of a mole embedded at a high level in Israel's Mossad, it triggers a larger, more dangerous plot. The mole was the most important asset of Chinese Intelligence, and Fao Bhang, head of China's Ministry of State Security (MSS), responds to the discovery and brutal elimination of the mole, by immediately placing a kill order on the man responsible—Dewey Andreas.

Dewey is tracked to Argentina, where he is on vacation with his fiancée, Jessica Tanzer, a U.S. National Security Advisor. A top-level kill team is sent in quickly and quietly, but their attack fails to take out Dewey. The collateral damage, however, is both horrifying and deeply personal. With nothing left to lose, Andreas is determined to have his revenge. Once he learns who is probably behind the attack—and why they are after him—Dewey goes rogue, using all of his assets and skills to launch a counterattack. Andreas must now face the full weight and might of the MSS, Chinese Intelligence, and the formidable Fao Bhang, if he's to achieve his one last goal: revenge on a biblical scale, no matter the odds or the armies that he will have to fight his way through. Andreas—former Army Ranger and Delta—is a man of great skills and cunning. His opponent, Fao Bhang, is ruthless, determined, and with no limit to the assets at his disposal.

In this conflict, there are only two possible outcomes. And only one Dewey Andreas.

Eye for an eye is certainly an enjoyable book, once again Dewey Andreas returns to the world of covert operations after his soon to be wife is murdered in a botched attempt on his life. It's quite the gripping page turner in the vein of Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp novels, the story begins where the last book left off (yet enough information is there for it to be read solo) and begins a ever building rise of events to the final climax. In fact I might go as far as to say that this is my new favourite series, am looking forward to the next books and hope the quality stays at this superb level.

Dewey Andreas is back. Not so much as back since the story starts shortly after the end of the previous book. As you might expect, things go bad and Dewey jumps back into action. A great spy page turner.

"Eye for an Eye" is much stronger than Coes' most recent books (save the first). It's fast-paced with great and believable international political intrigue between the US and China. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was the rather cliched way we get recurring protagonist Dewey Andreas into the thick of things. But once he's there, hold on tight!Andreas gets the name of a high level Chinese spy within Mossad, Israel's intelligence department and outs him. This sets off a chain reaction that has Bhang, the head of China's intelligence department on a rampage to take down Andreas. Throw in China's internal political struggles, America's financial dependence on China, and some really kick-ass espionage tactics, and you've got a tremendous thriller on your hands. Great job, Ben!

The writing in this series continues to get stronger as it progresses. The action is non-stop and the character development is excellent.

Eye for an Eye – Brilliant hits the target.Eye for an Eye by Ben Coes has on its jacket from the publishers some very big statements made about it. Calling the hero, Dewey Andreas, a hero like no other, comparing him to Bourne, Bond or Jack Reacher and calling them out. When you think of an all American hero you think of some steroid muscle bound klutz at best, John McClane or Rambo at worst. As you read the book you are taken aback by the pace, the action of the book so much so you could use every cliché in the book and still not be able to describe it credibly. I got so in to the book I was casting the characters for when this is made in to a movie, currently I have Gerard Butler as Dewey but that could change. The prose is crisp the imagery strong and the research top notch; brought together you get an all action thriller that delivers on all levels.Dewey Andreas is a former Delta Force operative who has done wet work for the CIA he is a highly prized asset who is engaged to be married to the current President’s National Security Advisor and for once he is happy. It is while he is with his fiancé that things go sideways when Fao Bhang the head of the Chinese Security Ministry sends a kill team out to deal with Andreas and kill her instead by mistake.Andreas is intent on revenge and will do anything to be able to kill Bhang, the problem is that he has not been out of China in 10 years and is well guarded and has the full support that his position entails. What we get is a full scale personal war that takes place across the world each dancing round each other like a pair of demented scorpions. The body count increases as they carry on their dance of who will come out on top. There are some great back stories as well as a parallel stories running alongside which help to give the book some depth. This is an excellent action thriller that does everything you could wish for it ticks all the boxes and is a real page turner. The characters are fantastic and strong uncompromising everything you expect from someone who works in the dark world of the intelligence services. Whoever reads this book will have no regrets whatsoever.

An interesting book split across an audio book on a road trip and an ibook to finish it off since the road trip wasn't long enough. I keep hearing the narrator (who did voices very well) say Ministuh Bhang! Is it bad when the narrator is probably going to be the only memorable part?Pat of the reason I don't care for audio books is keeping track of characters, and this one was no exception. Especially with the Chinese names, Tacoma and Dewey. Some I had no idea what the names were until I saw them in writing. Usually bad characters are a sign of a bad book, but that wasn't the case here. While I have no love for Dewey and didn't initially think I liked the book, I couldn't put it down. It's a very fast paced thriller, but Dewey you're no Gabriel Allon. Some insane plot points aside (passing as a Chinese spy, young boy taking out a Chinese assassin), it's a fun spy read. But I have no interest in the rest of the Dewey series.

When they talk about fast-paced, adrenaline-filled nonstop action, Eye for an Eye by Ben Coes is the type of book they are talking about. It’s a little (ok a lot) over the top, but man is it fun.Dewey Andreas is a great action hero. He’s impossibly handsome and incredibly good at his job. When his fiance is accidentally killed by Chinese agents during an attempt on Dewey’s life, a fiance who happens to be the US National Security Advisor, it sets Dewey on a mission to kill the head of Chinese intelligence. A mission that will take him back and forth across the globe leaving a trail of destruction behind him. This is the kind of book where you check your critical thinking at the door and just relax and have fun. A lot of the action strains believability, as well as the laws of physics, but you are so invested in the characters and story, you don’t really care. The bad guys are ruthless and evil, the good guys are determined and on the side of angels, but they are not one-dimensional.Coes does an incredible job of fleshing out his characters and making them three dimensional, while also delivering an incredible page-turning action filled book. This book starts fast and stays fast. When you get used to the pace, Coes kicks it up another notch. There is a car chase scene on the highways of Portugal that has the pages turning so fast they almost catch fire. Coes’ style of short passages and alternating perspectives really works to ratchet the action and the tension up.The story uses China’s dominance in both the financial market as well as electronic surveillance and hacking as key parts of the plot, which gives an anchor of believability to the story. Coes is a talented writer and Dewey Andreas is a great action hero. I look forward to more entries in this series. A great summer read and a top-notch thriller. Highly recommended.I was fortunate to receive an advance copy of this book.
