About this audiobook

A powerful and emotional debut thriller perfect for fans of It by Stephen King, The Chalk Man by C. J. Tudor and the TV show Stranger Things.

SOMETHING IS HIDING IN THE SHADOWS…

We were so young when it all happened. Just 13-years-old, making the most of the long, hot, lazy days of summer, thinking we had the world at our feet. That was us – me, Fat Bobby, Jim and Tara – the four members of the Outsiders’ Club.

The day we found a burnt-out car in the woods was the day everything changed. Cold, hard cash in the front seat and a body in the trunk… it started out as a mystery we were desperate to solve.

Then, the Collector arrived. He knew we had found his secret. And suddenly, our summer of innocence turned into the stuff of nightmares.

Nothing would ever be the same again…

‘An atmospheric, gritty page-turner’ Alex Lake, author of After Anna

‘I went through every emotion reading this novel’ Sam Carrington, author of Saving Sophie

‘Chilling and absorbing’ Phoebe Morgan, author of The Doll House

Seth C. Adams

Raised on comics, the fiction of King and Koontz, The Twilight Zone, and other genre fare unsuitable for an impressionable young mind, Seth C. Adams wanted to write at a young age. With a formal education in anthropology and history, as an adult he's learned that life is indeed stranger – and more terrifying – than fiction.

I wonder if I read a different book than most of the others who reviewed this.
This book for me was all over the map. It tried to be a mystery, an adventure, maybe scary, but it was mostly irritating. It read like a YA book with completely unbelievable and in most cases annoying characters.
Also other than about the last 50 pages it was boring.
Oh well it wasn’t a good fit for me, obviously many others liked it.

This is such a quick, thrilling, adventurous book and I had an absolute blast!! The Audio was also fantastic, and I was able to appreciate any or the "far fetched" events as believable through the eyes of a 13 year old boy in a new place. My favorite character was hands down Bandit the German Shepherd ??? SUCH A PERFECT DOGGY OMG!!!!!!!

King-esque but with a voice of its own. This is an interesting youth-in-summer story and a slow burn with some brutal moments. A couple of action events don't quite ring true, but all-in-all this is a great page-turner.

I requested this book from NetGalley.I have been a fan of coming of age stories for a long while. It is such a volatile time in a life. It's not a time I would care to relive, but I can appreciate the stories. This book is about friendships that are not planned, but happen accidentally, and the bonds seem to grow stronger because of that. The characters that are likeable, which is nearly all of them, are relatable in some way. The characters that are not likeable, while you recognize them for sure, are really unlikeable. I was a cheerleader for the club that formed through the whole book. I went with them on their adventures and wished I could warn them that trouble had to lie ahead. While there are tragic moments in the book, there is also humor. It's true to life in that regard. And I must say there were parts I did not foresee. A well-written book and a good read. I recommend it.
