I liked this one even more than Paladin's Grace. Shape-shifting, berserkers, mysterious clay heads and a road trip are all things I enjoy. Overuse or constant repetition of "I love them but they won't be able to love me back because of my affliction " is not a trope I enjoy too much.

every book by this author has been fantastic. even within this universe there are so many well done characters with vastly different plot lines and i find myself more interested in every book.

As lovely as the first. These books are comfort reading, and the audiobooks doubly so. Many thanks to the narrator for bringing Istvhan and Clara and Brindle and the rest so convincingly to life.

It's so good. I really want it to be a series some day.

JUST BANG ALREADY! If Kingfisher would edit out all the insecure self doubt thinking and unbelievably naive main characters beating around the bush dialogue, this book could have been released as a tweet.
Has the exact same plot, characters and problems as the first book in the series. Im out, this series is not for me.

Just as good as the first book. Same perfect balance of grim fantasy, witty humour and sexy romance, coupled with one of the best narrators I've yet heard. Simply superb!

Honestly, if you enjoyed the first book at all, you need to get this one. Another wonderful, dangerous and exciting take from the world of former Paladins, mysterious creatures and not a small amount of tension!
