- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I can appreciate the addressing of the hetero/cisnormativity here, but unfortunately it is nominal and not integrated into the rest of the work. The author does not take the time to truly treat queer experiences as legitimate and worthy of examination--this serves straight women pretty exclusively. The nature vs. nurture debate for mens' behavior also seems to be informed by outdated ideas in evolutionary psychology, which I am sure is upsetting for men/masc folks to hear. This is probably a good read for straight/cis people, but if you are not either of those things, skip some chapters.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5While it is indeed a very transformative read in many respects, I cannot accept some of the radical “truths” that Dr Shefali posits without any seeming foundational basis other than her own authority. One point that hit me as starkly illogical was the link made between belief in the creation story from Genesis and the fact that helief has led to the current state of affairs re climate change. For persons on a journey there are many useful and helpful tips, but as Dr Shefali herself notes, in relation to choosing a therapist, beware that some people are on their own journey, and mot everyone’s journey is yours.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5OH MY SHEFALI !!
Everything about my world has been shattered a million times!!!
I’m gonna give this another listen and maybe a third listen cause WHAT !?! Thanks but WHAT !?! Everything inside of me has been shaken. Listening to this is like getting back into your mothers womb and being born again. It’s a book for those who’re looking for a rebirth. It’s actually a book for everyone for every person not just women. It’s just that not every person can handle this much shattering of unconsciousness in one setting.
Thank you Dr.Shefali. Honestly, the wisdom shared in this book is SO GENEROUS. COVERS EVERYTHING I KNOW. I’m shocked. Amazed. And in a state of AH.
I also found myself in this book going through stages of grief, as if I was letting go of a person. I found myself in shock, denial, and in bargaining and then acceptance.
I deeply appreciate this book coming into existence and i feel thankful for every thing made it possible to get to me.
I not only feel changed, I know I already am.
Deeply grateful, happy and proud.
