About this audiobook

And the best performance as a skull goes to…

After years of hiding in the Thackery family house, Sid the skeleton is delighted to finally have his moment in the spotlight. He’s starring in a high school production of Hamlet. Well, not so much starring in as being a prop. At least part of him has a part—he’s using his head to play Yorick of “Alas, poor Yorick” fame. Every day, Georgia Thackery’s daughter, Madison, who’s also in the play, brings in his skull, and every night, she takes him home...

Until one night when he’s accidentally left at school—and hears the sounds of someone being murdered. But the next day, there’s no body and no one seems to be missing.

Sid is not a numbskull—he knows what he heard. Georgia thinks he imagined it—until a week later when a body is found. Now Georgia and Sid will both need to keep their heads as they stick their necks out and play sleuth to catch the conscience of a killer…

    Such a fun series!
Sid comes to the rescue in this one.

I love this series so far, the heroine is terrific, her daughter is smart and geeky and Sid is perfect as Yorick. It was terrific the way the author weaved the murder accusation by Sid as "Yorick" into the play, just as Hamlet did. Also the warmer colder trick was well thought out, when every other mystery would use some tech trick, like tracking a phone ect.

The continuing story of Sid (skeleton), Georgia, Madison, & Deborah.....Madison is in the school play Hamlet and decides to use Sid's skull for the prop of Yorik. Sid goes to school w/ Madison everyday. One fateful afternoon Madison gets so busy that she forgets to bring Sid home and he spends the night in the auditorium where he overhears a murder (no body or evidence is found). As time goes by Sid recognizes the voice of the murderer, but never sees him.....Georgia accompanies her friend Charles to a funeral for a former adjunct who committed suicide... there are clues here... The woman's ex-boyfriend does not show up and it turns out he had an interview at the HS where the play is, but no one has seen him since. And so it goes.......The very first thing I noticed was a GLARING Mistake in chapter one: Georgia (an adjunct English professor) is talking about where she works... She says"JTU", when In FACT She Works @ McQuaid.Second, how everything ties the murderer & reasoning in to the murder without segue is poor writing & even poorer editing. All of a sudden I'm reading about the school play and BAM, at the last minute it all ties in, but the important part of the investigation is treated as filler, without full explanation until the end..... thus minus 2 stars.

Sid’s skull, part of the family skeleton is in Madison’s school locker because she is going to use him as a prop in her school’s presentation of Hamlet. But she is running late and forgets to pick him when she goes home. So Sid hears a murder going on. He can’t see who is murdered or who the murderer is but he is sure that it happened! Leigh Perry creates a delightful cozy with Sid, Georgia Thackery, adjunct professor and her daughter Madison. The star is Sid. Since he is purely a skeleton, he is a rather unique character. He doesn’t need to sleep so he can stay up all night with the Internet. He doesn’t need to eat or drink, the stuff would just go through him and then he would need a cleanup. He is rather old and his favorite hobby is gossip. Byron, the Akita eyes his bones with a feast in mind. There are loads of bone jokes.Georgia cannot just report the murder to the police when she doesn’t know who was murdered or who the murderer was so the investigation is underway to get more information. I am not used to skeletons who can talk, move and think! But Leigh Perry makes it work in this funny cozy. The mystery is complex and interesting with SAT tests and a mysterious Foundation willing to pay the way for graduate students to attend conferences. Georgia and Madison are great characters too so this cozy series is already a gem after only two books.I highly recommend this cozy for all cozy lovers.
