Selena Montgomery is the nom de plume of Stacey Abrams. After serving for eleven years in the Georgia House of Representatives, she became the first Black woman to become the gubernatorial nominee for a major party in the United States, and was the first Black woman and first Georgian to deliver a Response to the State of the Union. In 2021, she received the inaugural Social Justice Impact Award from the NAACP Image Awards. Stacey is an avid fan of television and movies, with a penchant for sci-fi, car chases and heists. I became interested in reading one of her books after learning the author's real name and selected this one even though it's the middle book of the trilogy. It was easy to pick up the events and characters of the previous book. Fin and Caleb are interesting characters amidst a plethora of intriguing people. Fin is a professional gambler who hasn't returned home to her 'adopted' family after a wild childhood because she wants to keep them safe. Danger threatens them now, so she's come home. Undercover agent Caleb is immediately struck by the beautiful and fascinating Fin, and together they work to bring down the bad guys. The book is well-written and fast-paced. I'm not a devotee of suspense romances, though I read almost anything, but this was an interesting story, and I'd definitely read more from this author.
