- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I love food! I consider myself an amateur foodie, but an expert chef haha. And I also love exercise… sometimes…2014 was a year filled with change. We moved to South Carolina, I graduated college, my little one was diagnosed borderline autistic and I packed 12 pounds. Maybe you guys think 12 pounds is a lot (I weighed 120 pounds) but in my frame ( 5’1) they looked like I gained 20 pounds. So I started having a quarter life crisis. I needed to deal with our new life, my daughter’s treatment every week, and try to keep up with college stuff and my 4 year old so she wouldn’t feel abandoned. I started exercising weekly but I needed something more. I needed motivation!…This book is filled with healthy recipes, motivational messages from people who were going through some rough times in their lives and they succeeded in life thanks to their faith and The Daniel Fast. The book comes with more than 100 recipes that are super easy to make, especially for people like me that are busy all day long. It also includes 21 daily motivational messages that you can read during the 3 week fast. The book itself is very uplifting, the recipes are amazing and the testimonials will fill you up with hope and perseverance. I combined my Daniel Fast with the Spartacus Workout and was able to shed 5 pounds the first week!! I’m currently starting week 2, so I’ll come back to post some photos of my progress.Score: 4.0/5.0Why 4 stars? It only had 7 pages with photos of some of the recipes. As a foodie I love books that are filled with food portraits.Do I recommend this book?: YES! Especially if you’re a mom trying to get back in shape while eating healthy and developing a sense of spirituality during your journey.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a marvelous guide to the Daniel Fast. There is a tremendous wealth of inspiring verses of scripture for needed encouragement here. I especially like the dazzling food photography and ample recipes. Right at the beginning of the book is a worthwhile section to read about the types of fast, a Biblical perspective on fasting, and what fasting is and what it is not. The author offers a well organized plan and approach to fasting, as well as nourishing, healthy food choices. Overall, I sure learned a lot and highly recommend the book to friends.
