Lacks the intensity of the previous book both in terms of the romance and the threat to the heroine.

If it is possible, Rio and Grace are far too accepting of each other. She doesn't blink an eye when he kills people even though she is supposedly a healer who cherishes life, and he embraces her paranormal abilities without question. He even goes so far as to claim that he "knew she was his" after seeing her image on video screen - talk about far-fetched. There is absolutely no conflict between them at all and this makes their romance somewhat bland and emotionless.

Every man in the book thinks Grace has amazing strength and resilience. However, to me she came across as defeatist with her "let me die" and "I will kill myself to thwart you" comments. The villain is borderline pathetic and never constitutes any real threat and the ending is saccharine sweet.

All in all, not up to Bank's standards and hopefully PJ and Cole's book will be better.

A good story with lots of exciting action and it deals with an interesting moral issue. The hero has been popular in this series and he shows the same dedication to the heroine as he has with his job. Rio and his team are sent in to rescue and protect Grace who was kidnapped for her healing ability.

Continuing the plot of the last book (Whispers in the dark), we get Grace and Rio story.I loved it, both characters were great and the plot (although sci-fi) was good.I'm in love with the Kellys and can't get enough of them.

Echoes at Dawn, released on July 3, 2012.This book in the saga is about Grace Peterson, Shea's sister is kidnapped for her abilities. Rio rescues her and others want her for her abilities. She had escaped and then went over the edge of the cliff, she had enough and wanted to just end things. Rio and his men tracked her to CO and he plans to bring her back home.Rio has heard her thoughts and tried talking to her the same way, not knowing if it worked. When things get too intense Rio takes her to where he goes.... beautiful! Love catching up with some of the family..Love all the action, adventure and travel to new places as they are being described.Sad about the sickness of the child and all she goes through, weddings and many more plans of action occur...I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Best book in the KGI series, period! I may have crushed a little on the mysterious Rio throughout the series, but I wasn't prepared for him in this book. Hot damn! And Grace ... best heroine in the series. She had more guts than Sophie, and that's saying something.

Grace and Rio. The action remains high through most of the book with plateaus of peace to give you a breath as Grace heals for one reason or another. She is a stong woman and her character development at least in determination is well thought out by Banks. The brain link reunion with her sister Shea is better than the actual reunion on the wedding day...not saying whose wedding.

Rio is the brooding alpha hero we all love and he doesn't let you down in any way. I am beginning to feel an ever so slight lack of sustainable interest from Banks in this book. By that I mean, there is some of Banks usual passion missing here. Barely percievable. Is KGI beginning to run it's course? Hope not. The next book is P.J. the hot alpha chick on the team.

Rio saves Grace from her captors and takes her back to his hidden hideaway in the jungles of another country. Grace shows unbelieveable strength in walking away from her captors, literally, at Rio's side. Can not help but call her one strong lady. Later the evil bad guy wants her captured again to save the life of his dieing daugher Elizabeth. Does he get his way or not. That is the thread through much of the story. Of course he does, Grace goes and then desplays her incredible stategic thinking. Then she does her thing at a cost higher then I had expected. Bit of a surprise there at the climax of the story. Always good.

The HEA was perfect, first with family and friends and then on their own. Only one thread left dangling at the end of this story. One that I really don't care one way or the other about. I enjoyed reading the book and it did have all of the elements I look for in this type of read.

The fifth installment in Maya Banks' KGI series is another gripping read. Action, suspence, and a dash of romance mixed with well developed characters is a recipe for a sleepless night. My only complaint was there was no good stopping point so I just had to keep reading. Tired with gritty eyes the next day was 100% worth it though.

Grace who is Shea's sister and has even more amazing healing skills is being hunted. While I did find the case to be a little over the top at times, it was mostly an action packed thriller that kept you engaged from beginning to end. I did like the introduction of Titan and it would be awesome if they got their own series. I thought they were a darker version of the KGI team but they were strong/skilled and would probably make some kick ass alpha leads! I also enjoyed the side story of how Grace's skills are not only manipulated by those far from her but sometimes by those she trusts. I was glad that Maya wrote this bit in because it would be crazy to assume that everyone would be above using her. Overall a solid case with great action. What I thought about the characters: Grace, Shea, Rio, Rio's Team, The Kelley's, Titan, Resnick (whom I dying to get a happy ending), and even Steele's Team (though there was not enough of them) simply were amazing. I have always loved the KGI stories for their strong characters and they seem to be getting better with each installment. Echoes at Dawn did a great job of reconnecting us with our favorites and priming us for more to come! I am excited that PJ and Cole are next---I LOVE their banter! I felt even worse for Resnick in this story and really hope that she at least gives him a novella. I truly believe he is good but just serving two masters! Overall fantastic characterization always wins the day for me!Final Thought: If you haven't read the KGI series you need to go to the store and pick them up. You will have your favorites just like I have mine :)
