- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I'd greater hopes for this one. It was good in parts but I found it lacking on the whole. With scenes set in revolutionary France I can't help feeling that this should've been more exciting and shocking.Worth reading but only once.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I have always loved Victoria Holt gothics, and I am slowly accumulating my own copies of my favorites. This one involves not only the sweet innocent English miss in straitened circumstances, but also the French Revolution and a completely desolute French Comte.
