Parts of the books were very good, but the format was formulaic. It was infuriating that the main character went in to confront a killer alone in every single book and narrowly escaped death in each instance, usually by being saved by a man. she made terrible judgment calls along the way to arrive at this end, many of which would violate basic police procedure. It became unbelievable that a character who was so smart would make such stupid decisions. Her insecurities were also hugely annoying by the later books. Would have liked to see a more competent female character rather than a stereotype of an overly emotional female.

Ugh!!!!! Loved books 1-3? It's formulaic, but that's the nature of these books. The main characters were engaging and I enjoyed the narration of the first three books. Once the new narrator came on, the listening experience drastically deteriorated the story experience. Yikes! Even the accent most used is annoying and distracting, but the attempts at an American accent are brutal! I'd forgotten about encountering this narrator before. She's the one that made me quit the part of the series I was into earlier. I wish I knew what made her think that bureau is pronounced "bough," especially considering how often it's used in these books! So disappointing. ?
