About this audiobook

Inside V is a novel of trust and deception, a dark look inside of a marriage that started as an affair, and the deep distrust that evolves from that initial infidelity. A must read for fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train.

When Ava, a former defense lawyer, wakes up in an empty hotel room to find her husband missing days before he is supposed to report to jail for a heinous crime he swears he didn't commit, she takes matters into her own hands. Searching for her husband herself instead of calling the police, “V” is led on a chase that ends up in her own dark past. With grit and determination, she is forced to confront her own misdeeds while coming face-to-face with her husband’s. Inside V is a deep look at trust, marriage, and the secrets we carry. An unputdownable novel that builds to an unforgettable standoff. This is one you don’t want to miss.

Editor's Note

Great story-engrossing with likeable characters and the narration was great!

I liked the story and narration. I'm glad the author did some research on the California prison system. Being a retired California Correctional Officer, I know how the State prisons work. Not completely accurate, but not completely incorrect either.

Far reaching motive. Not a great deal of suspense. But, I did like the premise of how the main characters met, even if I wasn’t fond of either.

Author has a very polished writing making one live thru the story she is telling - not getting held up by the words she is using. Also great plot, with a middle and ending the reader is not expecting. But still one which is rather believable and life-like. Being new to this lady, I am looking forward to trying others of her work. Good job, Paula.

Decent story but it jumped so much I felt motion sickness.

The protagonist/narrator was absolutely insufferable. She's one of these characters who is the best at everything: all men want her, all women envy her, not only is she a lawyer but she is repeatedly touted as the BEST lawyer, everyone likes her... You get it. I just have one question: why? Why do people want her? Why do they like her? She is utterly self absorbed. Annoying. From what I can tell, fairly rubbish at her job. The "twist", such as it was, was stupid. Stereotypes of Latinx characters and immigrants. Stereotypes of victims. I HATED this book. Aside from all of that, and the most unforgivable of all... It was SO. BORING. I would give this zero if I could.

This is an okay book, it didn’t take me long to decipher the ending. There was a slow burn but eventually it was just kind of messy. Not really good but definitely not bad, it was just ok. I was not surprised and it felt at the beginning like there would be a build up to an insane plot twist. However when the end approached, it felt a little stale and just eh. I could make a drinking game out of the many times the narrator says “the Latina girl” lol! If you know you know, by the end I didn’t even remember her name, will be forever known as the Latina girl.

The ending was so disappointing. The story had some interesting twists, but overall was lacking any real mystery or intrigue.

A love story. A hate story. An obsession. A mystery.
