About this audiobook

A gift that's too good to be true. A murder she didn't commit. A barista in a latte trouble . . .

Mitzy Moon believes she's an orphan, so she's dumbstruck when a special delivery to her low-rent apartment reveals a family. But her shock turns to awe when she discovers her grandmother left her a fortune and a bookshop of rare tomes brimming with magic.

No sooner does she set foot in the quirky village of Pin Cherry Harbor to claim her inheritance, than the handsome sheriff catches her standing over a corpse. Desperate to prove her innocence, she's forced to accept help from her granny's entitled cat and a spirit from beyond the grave.

Can Mitzy and her otherworldly helpers uncover the real killer before the long, sexy arm of the law hauls her to jail?

it was so much fun to have one of my favorite cozy mysteries come to life through the wonderful narration by Colleen Marlo. I enjoyed revisiting the snarky, insecure young woman who unexpectedly inherits a bookstore in a place she's never heard of only to find a cute town sheriff who accuses her of murder almost as soon as she steps of the bus. As Mitzy explores her new home she discovers a ghost, an alchemist lawyer, a long lost father and whole cast of wonderful characters. I love this audio version of a thoroughly enjoyable book and can't wait to hear more!

This book sounded fun, but don’t waste your time.
If you can suspend reality to accept a woman who proclaimed to be slutty, makes fun of her sexual partners, dirty (she talks about her filthy bed sheets like it’s an ok thing), gets a mysterious inheritance, some how a fortune was in a few bundles of cash in an envelope with the will, she got are we here is a fortune but also a bookstore and apartment and a wardrobe that magically fits her perfectly (clothes and shoes), magical cat, ghosts, people willing to work for her for free and give her free food for life….I could go in but I’ll stop here. If you can get past all of this, you still have so many characters are just awful.
The author was trying to make the female main character funny and quirky, but all she did is maker her rude, mean, a know it all, spiteful, not self aware, and all-around just a person that I don’t think anyone would like or want to be associated with.
She sexually harassed the cop, if this were a guy they would have been saying what a sleeze the guy is. That same cop is just a bumbling idiot with no real personality and someone who would have been fired or investigated for reckless discharge of a gun and being incompetent as a cop.
The second cop is worse. Degrading and aggressive toward anyone that she deals with. With how many “rich people“ live in this town there’s no way anyone would’ve put up with her crap. She would’ve been sued or fired because according to this book the rich people pretty much get what they want in this town.
The only likable people are the the grandmother (who is dead) and the diner cook/owner. That’s it.
The story is just an afterthought, not well mapped out and executed.
So don’t read this. Good idea but AWFUL execution.
