Of the Night Huntress short stories I have read so far, this is my favorite. It was a complete short story of its own with characters we knew, as well as some new ones. I knew there would be some sort of HEA, and it did not happen the way I was expecting. Knowing what we do of Frost's supernatural world at this point in the series, I had figured on a different ending. Overall, an enjoyable story.

This was a fun novella. I wanted more of Blake and Elise. I wanted to know more about Elise especially and how she became who she was. These are terrific characters. I loved their story and hope they show up again in the Night Huntress books.

This was a nice story set in the Night Huntress world. Elise is a lonely vampire who rarely interacts with anyone, human or otherwise. Blake is a human who has been possessed by an ancient and powerful demon. Blake wants to die so he can end the evil that the demon is doing through him. The catch is that unless his death is handled correctly, the demon will just jump to another human and continue his evil ways. Elise is determined to help Blake, but the more she is around him, the more she cares for him. Is there a way to destroy the demon and save Blake? I enjoyed this story. I am working my way through the Night Huntress books so I hope to see more of the characters from this story.

I liked both characters and felt for both. Everything happened very quickly in feelings but that happens with short stories and this one had a life or death push, which can bring out strong feelings. The story and ending, of getting rid of the demon, was well told and thought out.

    Overall, cute short story.

Might be a problem for some-
She does have Cat and Bones show up and talks about things that happened in Book 3 of the Night Huntress series. I haven't read book 3 yet, only book 1 and 2, so didn't really want a spoiler but... I don't think I'll remember much anyway the only thing I can remember now is talking about combining with and co-mastering with Menchares, though there were 2 other points and what I did read hopefully won't be too bad a tell.
