The Golden Knights felt they played well enough to win Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final series. But they gave up a third period lead late, and fell in overtime 3-2 to the Panthers in Sunrise, Fla. The Golden Knights had been 10-0 in the playoffs after leading through two periods. They played the first 17 minutes of the third period well, until Matthew Tkachuk scored the equalizer with 2:13 remaining in regulation. VGK did start the 3rd period with the man advantage following a debated Gustav Forsling tripping penalty on Chandler Stephenson. The Panthers killed that penalty and Carter Verhaeghe scored the game-winner 4:27 into overtime. VGK scored both of its goals on the power play - with Mark Stone and Jonathan Marchessault connecting. The VGK power play unit has come to life with six Cup Final goals. The Golden Knights had good opportunities on 5v5 but didn't finish off plays. Sergei Bobrovsky kept the Panthers in the game as he returned to his Vezina form saving 25 of 27 shots on net. Keegan Kolesar had the revenge hit on Matthew Tkachuk in the first period and the Panthers top scorer missed 15:30 of ice time. Florida had 16 penalty minutes and they didn't resort to dirty tactics in the game. Nic hague, Brett Howden and Zach Whitecloud all were -3 and need to perform better if VGK is to bounce back in Game 4, with a chance to clinch the Cup on home ice Tuesday.
