The Golden Knights took the first game of the series against the Dallas Stars Friday 4-3 in overtime. It was a Brett Howden goal from behind the net that got past Jake Oettinger to give VGK the 1-0 series lead in the best-of-seven WCF. The Golden Knights dominated most of the first period of the game, before Jason Robertson scored his first goal in nine games to give the Stars a 1-0 lead. William Karlsson scored the equalizer in the second period and the game was tied heading into the third period. The Golden Knights have now outscored opponents in the second period 20-5. VGK held a 3-2 lead late on goals by Karlson and Teddy Blueger, but the Stars captain Jamie Benn tied the game at three with just under two minutes remaining to force overtime. The Golden Knights' Howden had the only shot of the extra period. It was a light hitting game and the Stars fell behind for a third consecutive series by losing another overtime game in the playoffs. We will see what adjustments the coaches make for Sunday's game, but the Stars need to get out to a quicker start. VGK will try to go up 2-0 in the series before heading to Dallas for Game 3 on Tuesday.
