Description
“Love touches and heals something that medications can't touch”. In this snippet, physician, psychiatrist and Harvard Medical School professor Jeffrey Rediger explains how lifestyle and beliefs affect gene expression and suggests we can look beyond traditional medicine to the role of emotions, spirituality and relationships (i.e. LOVE) in our health. Dr Jeffrey shares the story of “Claire”, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and decided not to pursue conventional treatment. Instead, she focused on improving her quality of life by working through books about how to prepare for death, addressing relationships where she wanted to forgive people, and eliminating processed foods from her diet. Eventually, her cancer disappeared, and she was healed. What can we learn from these cases of spontaneous remission (aka an unexpected improvement or disappearance of a disease or medical condition without any known or intended medical treatment)?
