Description
The Cincinnati Bengals enacted their revenge over their historic archrivals in fitting style on Sunday.
Even though the stage was slightly different with Kenny Pickett under center, instead of Mitchell Trubisky, the Bengals still kept the Steelers' rookie quarterback from being flashy in the second half of Cincinnati's 37-30 road victory.
Conversely, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow showed off his pizazz and poise coming off a well-rested bye week with a 355-yard, four passing touchdown performance.
Although Burrow would like to take back two of his interceptions, they were both tipped and barely pulled down. One of them was grabbed by star defensive end T.J Watt, who picked Burrow back in that season-opening thriller. But there wasn't much celebration for Watt and his henchmen up front as Cincinnati's offensive line mostly protected their platoon leader Sunday.
While Tee Higgins unsurprisingly impressed with his nine catch, 148 receiving yard performance, the surprise came from the Bengals' scorers. Running back Samaje Perine and backup wide receiver Trenton Irwin combined to catch Burrow's four touchdowns, showcasing depth even with Ja'Marr Chase sidelined with injury.
So, the Bengals are 6-4 and are still competitive in a cutthroat playoff field in the AFC and in the AFC North each, respectively. The Strictly Stripes crew breaks down why this win is more than just a divisional win, along with what the Bengals should appreciate about this game moving forward.
This podcast features Mohammad Ahmad, Andrew Gillis and Michael Niziolek.
