The LSU Tigers defeated the Purdue Boilermakers 63-7 Monday afternoon in the Citrus Bowl. LSU extends their record to 10-4 on the season with the bowl win. Malik Nabers had a huge day, catching nine balls for 163 yards and one touchdown. But his contribution wasn't just with catching passes but also throwing passes, as well (yes you read that right). Brian Kelly and offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock utilized several trick plays, one of which resulted in Nabers throwing a touchdown pass to QB Jayden Daniels. Three different LSU players threw a touchdown pass, Daniels, Nabers, and backup QB Garrett Nussmeier, a Citrus Bowl first.
We saw both Daniels and Nussmeier on display at Camping World Field as both of the quarterbacks went under center interchangeably throughout the game before true freshman Walker Howard got some reps. What did we learn about each QB? How can we use what we saw from each quarterbacks performance and the way in which they were used give us an indication of the quarterback battle throughout the offseason?
