Description

Nadya Okamoto is a 21-year old Harvard student, founder and executive director of Period, an organization fighting to end period poverty and stigma that she founded at the age of 16. Period is now the largest run youth organization in women’s health, and one of the fastest-growing ones in the united states. For years, we have been told that periods are dirty, shameful, and something to be kept secret. We’ve come a long way in bringing these issues to light, but we still have a long way to go! Can you believe that in some areas outside of the United States, women can’t go to school while on their periods because they don’t have access to supplies? To find out more about why this movement is so important, I encourage you to read Nadya’s book Period Power.
