Description

We’re talking today with Phyllida Swift, Chief Executive Officer of Face Equality International about her journey of survival, her role as a young, female leader for an international organization, and discuss areas of opportunity for support for facial equality across the globe. Phyllida shares campaigns she’s currently working on with her team, including her recent Halloween campaign highlighting facial scars and how they are represented publicly, how artificial intelligence is (or is not) recognizing facial differences, and invites the audience to stay tuned for an upcoming May 2023 Face Equality Week.  About Phyllida Swift Phyllida is an appearance activist and the CEO of Face Equality International, an NGO campaigning to end the discrimination and indignity experienced by the global facial difference community.  After sustaining facial scars in a car accident in 2016, she set out to reshape the negative narratives that dictate the public perception of scars and disfigurements. Her TEDX explores the harms caused by disproportionately poor media representation of facial difference via villains and vulnerable people on screen. About Face Equality International (FEI)Face Equality International is an alliance of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), charities and support groups which are working at national, regional or international levels to promote the campaign for ‘face equality’. Our Sponsor A special thank you to our Season One Sponsor, Pritzker Hageman.
