Halloween is a time for fun, but let’s not forget that it can be tough for those with facial and visible differences. Portraying a burn survivor or someone with physical disfigurements can be extremely disrespectful and triggering. Additionally, burn survivors see an increase of harmful and hurtful messages during the spooky season. In today’s podcast, we sit down with influencer Tonya Meisenbach, better known as Burned Beauty 2018. Tonya shares her thoughts on Halloween and the negative comments and questions she’s been receiving. We also chat about how survivors and those with visible differences are portrayed in Hollywood.
