The Golden Knights suffered their first loss of the season, as VGK lost to the Calgary Flames 3-2, in a game that wasn't as close as the final score would indicate. The Golden Knights were dominated after taking a 2-0 lead in the first period. In the second period, VGK committed 6 penalties, a team record. The Flames scored twice on power play opportunities. Bruce Cassidy said after the game that VGK failed the test. He said "I don't think we passed the test. We didnt get cheated. They won. The game stayed close due in part to Logan Thompson, who had 37 saves on 40 Flames shots. Thompson gave up one bad goal - it was tapped into the net by teammate Alec Martinez. Thompson also made the save of the game or possibly the season - when he robbed Calgary's Tyler Toffoli with his glove. The VGK top line didn't play well. Jack Eichel had no shots on goal, was late arriving defensively on the game winning goal, and was just 4 of 15 in the faceoff circle.
