Description

Women’s Health, Wisdom, and. . . WINE!  is a weekly conversation with practitioners, providers, patients, and healers about complex reproductive medicine and women’s health challenges, the value of an integrative approach to these challenges, many of the women’s health topics you’re already thinking about but uncomfortable talking about, and my personal favorite. . . WINE!Weight loss has, and will continue to be, one of the most challenge exercises (no pun intended!) that one will ever have to undergo. There are so many "solutions" out there and most of them are designed to address the weight; however, they fail to address how the weight got there in the first place. From weight loss gurus to get slim quick gurus peddling their overnight weight loss success snake oil to starvation diets and surgical interventions, the weight loss industry is growing and probably will continue to do so for many years to come. In addition to the ever prevalent social determinants of health, the (stressful) conditions in which we live, learn, work, and play, eating patterns, physical activity levels, and sleep routines, genetics, and taking certain medications also play a role. It can be difficult to make healthy food choices and get enough physical activity if these conditions do not support health. Differences in social determinants of health affect chronic disease outcomes and risks, including obesity, among racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups as well as in different geographies and among people with different physical abilities. What would your life look like in 5 years if you continue on a downward health spiral? What would your life look like in  5 years if you had the health outcomes that matter most to you? What would become possible?About Dr. Hehmeyer:Dr. Jessie Heymeyer is the physician founder of Well Empowered where she practices data-driven, outcome-oriented Functional Medicine.
