Description

The Cleveland Guardians have an off day, so we start talking about the rookie of the year race. There have been many articles dropping recently but I comment on two of the bigger ones. It blows my mind people can have Bobby Witt Jr. in the top five let alone the top three. Long term he might be the better player, but right now he is clearly not one of the top three in terms of production this year. We use the rookie of the year discussion to leap into what a Steven Kwan extension could look like, using Michael Harris II and his recent extension as a baseline. We also dig into why as much as I want Shane Bieber to stay, I just don’t see a way for it to happen.

Next up is Wednesday’s game. The Cleveland Guardians lost one they should have won after Emmanuel Clase had the rare off day and blew his first save since May 9th. He gave up just his ninth earned run this year. Cody Morris in his second start in the majors pitched well, and the bullpen mainly was effective with some ups and downs. Also if anyone knows Andres Gimenez can they please explain to him how physics works so he will stop sliding in first base which is less effective and increases his risk of injury.

We end with some prospect chatter and some Minnesota Twins talk. I failed to give credit on Thursday to Rodney Boone as the Guardians had three B-named pitchers excel on Tuesday and four pitchers who had double-digit strikeouts. We then look at how strongly the weekend pitching matchups favor the Cleveland Guardians. The Twins are losers of three of their last four and with the clear advantages with Cleveland's starters, they need to take two out of three this week to increase their lead in the division.
