171. Live 24hrs at a Time : 3 Tips for Focusing on the Day Ahead

The best way to not get overwhelmed about the future is to stop thinking so far ahead. Instead lets focus on the 24hrs ahead of us and that’s it. If we were actually able to do that, how much more productive would we be? How less anxious would we feel about the future? How much more present would we feel just focusing on what’s in front of us right now? Todays the day we commit to living 24hrs at a time. Three tips that I’ve learned to use when trying to focus on the day head include : (1) Daily to-do lists have been essential to making sure I’m staying productive but not overworking myself in a given 24hrs. It also helps me feel a sense of accomplishment when the day is done when looking at the list of items I’ve crossed off. (2) Focus sprinting has allowed me to focus on the task at hand so that I can get it done efficiently and effectively. I never sacrifice quality but I do sacrifice all the side distractions so that I can get the job done. (3) “Cross that bridge when we get there” helps me focus on the day ahead by not allowing myself to get anxious or overwhelmed thinking about things that I’m weeks out from. Challenge for listeners For the next 7 days I want you to remind yourself every morning before you even roll out of bed to focus on the day ahead of you. I don’t mean just remind yourself, say it out loud and really hear it. See if it changes your mood or the way you approach the day ahead. I have a feeling it may just work to your benefit.
