Reading Difficulties, Spelling Difficulties, Rate of Work Difficulties
An estimated 20% of all children do not read fluently, affecting their rate of work and progress at school. Let Jud the Rat, Tom the Cat, Jill the Dog, Mrs Weasel and Doctor Skunk solve your child’s problems with reading, writing and spelling.
Jud the Rat and his friends inhabit a series of phonically-based reading fluency books which are graded in terms of difficulty, and are provided with supporting manuals and implementation materials. Author’s Note on Copyright
This book is the second book in a series of seven intermediate level reading fluency books about Jud the Rat and Sid the Badger. The books are graded from easy to more difficult, on the basis of the phonic rules and morphological combinations used in the text.
The books can be set in small or medium-sized print and used as stand-alone reading materials, or simply read for pleasure. They can also be set in large print and used to develop reading, writing and spelling fluency. In addition, the phonic skills embedded in the text of each book can be used to teach spelling rules and sequential writing skills.
I have developed a set of procedures and methods for developing reading, writing and spelling fluency, which are designed to be used with the books in the series. I have also developed other procedures and methods for developing spelling and sequential writing skills, using the material. Copyright in the text of this book and the other books in the series, as well as the procedures and methods used with this book and the other books in the series, vests with myself as author.
The covers used in the series are based on illustrations which are, to my knowledge as author, royalty free. The illustration used on the cover of this book, which forms part of the Tales of Jud the Rat

SID THE BADGER -- BUS DRIVER
The story so far:
Sid the Badger and Jud the Rat were sailors for many years. One day, however, they decided to leave their ship to find work on the land.
So when their ship came to port, Sid the Badger and Jud the Rat said goodbye to the captain and the other sailors. Then they walked off the ship on to the docks.
As they did not have enough money for a hotel, Sid the Badger and Jud the Rat walked up the main street of the town looking for a room to stay in for the night. After passing the town hall, they went into a bakery shop to buy their lunch.
A small, round pink pig was standing in the bakery shop behind the counter. As they were very hungry, Sid the Badger and Jud the Rat bought lots of things to eat for lunch. They also told the small, round pink pig behind the counter that they were looking for a room to stay in for the night.
My dad will be able to help you,
said the small round pink pig, "My dad owns the large grocery shop next door. So first go and have your lunch. And when you have finished eating your lunch, come back and I’ll take you to see my dad. I’m sure he will be
