Chapter 36: KILLED MY WIFE
Liam's POV
I sat on the bed, for what felt like hours, waiting for Mia to come out. But she wasn't out. I began to worry, wondering what was taking her so long. Has something happened? I stood up and walked towards the door.
Hello, Mia, Mia,
I called out to her, knocking the door softly. But she wasn't responding. All I could hear was the sound of a rushing tap. Mia are you there?
I screamed, banging the door, still no response.
my hand hovered over the doorknob. I turned it but it didn't open, I quickly ran back and came back with full force hitting the door and it swung open. I gasped as I saw the bathroom in disarray. The mirror was cracked, the sink had been ripped out of the wall, and water was everywhere. My heart dropped into my stomach as I realized that something was terribly wrong.
My heart was racing, what was even more scary was the fact Mia isn't here. She must have been kidnapped but how? I thought to myself. There is no way Mia was abducted from the toilet and I won't know. I looked at the window the only possible way they must have left with her. But it was looking intact. Then what must have happened here? Or was it the witches? I came out of the toilet. And quickly mind link my beta,Mark.
I need you in Mia's room now,
I said, my voice urgent.
What's wrong?
he asked, sounding worried.
I don't know, but something's wrong,
I said, my words tumbling out in a rush. Mark arrived in a flash, his eyes wide with concern.
What happened?
he asked again, looking around puzzled.
I don't know,
I said, trying to control my breathing. But one thing I know for sure is that the witches have kidnapped Mia.
I said my words in a rush.
Kidnapped?
Mark repeated, looking shocked.
How?
he asked, his brow furrowed. I mean, where was she before she was kidnapped?
I took a deep breath before talking .
She was in the bathroom,
I said, walking back to the bathroom. Mark followed me, his eyes widening as he took in the damage.
What the fuck!
he said, scanning the room with a confused look. I told him everything that happened from the hospital down to her excusing herself. You didn't see the witch?
Mark asked, his voice low. I shook my head.
What if it wasn't a witch?
Mark asked, looking at me thoughtfully.
I mean, could there be another explanation? This is definitely a witch's handwork.
I said. We need to launch an attack on them.
Calm down Liam, we can't go to war without proof.
He said. I paused, thinking about what he had said. It was true, we didn't have any proof that a witch had been involved. But something deep inside me told me that it had to be a witch. And you know they will be a problem if we're wrong.
I ran my hands through my hair, frustrated. I knew he was right, but I was so worried about Camellia that I couldn't think straight.
We have to do something,
I said again, my voice rising. Mark put a hand on my shoulder, his expression serious.
We will,
he said, his voice steady. But we have to be smart about it. We have to come up with a plan.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing thoughts.
We went back to the room closing the door behind me. I kept pacing around the room. Mark sat on the sofa looking restless too. We both stayed in silence, unsure of what to do next. Then, suddenly, we heard the bathroom door open, and we both turned to see Mis standing in the doorway, looking perfectly healthy. Mark and I exchanged a look of confusion.
Mia, Is that truly you?
I said, running to meet her relief and concern warring within me. Mia looked at me, her brow furrowed.
What do you mean?
she asked.
You were gone for hours, and we couldn't find you,
I said, my voice shaking. Mia looked at me, a puzzled look on.
I'm fine,
she said, breathing heavily as she walked over to the bed and sat down. I turned to look at my beta, and he nodded, understanding that we needed a moment alone. He excused himself from the room, closing the door behind him. I looked at Mia, her face pale and drawn.
Where were you?
I asked again, worried. She inhaled deeply and looked at me. Before talking.
This might sound crazy I went on a tour about my past.
She said, running her hands in her hair.
What do you mean you went on a tour?
I asked, my voice shaking. And what do you mean you saw your past?
Mia took a deep breath, as if gathering her courage. I'm not sure how to explain it,
she said, her voice soft and hesitant. I saw a lady talking to me through the mirror.
She began her whole story. I sat down next to her, my head spinning.
That doesn't make any sense,
I said, my voice full of disbelief. You're telling me you followed a lady you saw in the mirror to some sort of tour in your life?
Mia nodded, her eyes wide and earnest.
I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. I swear.
She said, I didn't know what to think. I had never heard of anything like this before. Was.
Okay,
I said, my voice firm. Let's say I believe you. Who is this lady you're talking about?
I asked. Trying to clear the confusion in my head.
Uhm…she did mention her name I can't remember.
Mia said, hitting her forehead lightly trying to remember this mystery woman’s name. She suddenly looked at me, her eyes wide, like she just remembered something. Morgana.
She said, smiling widely. The moment I heard that name her heart began to pound in anger. Yea I just remembered she said you know her and you can guide me to her.
I heard Mia’s voice. I looked at her with rage not for her but for Morgana.
You are going nowhere I said.
My tone Leaving no room for argument.
But why.
Mia asked, looking at me hurt. I took my gaze. Seeing her hurt breaks me but I can't allow her this wish of her’s. Please answer me why can't I?
She pressed further.
Because she killed my wife.
Chapter 37: VAMPIRE
Liam's POV
I don't understand,
Mia said, looking at me, puzzled. You said humans killed her.
Yes, but Morgana played a vital role in her killing,
I said, anger building in my body as I remembered that terrible incident. My late wife, Amelia.
I began. Was a descendant of the witch's ancestors. She was the only wolf in her coven, which was a cause for worry to her parents and priestess of the coven. She also faced humiliation from her coven and was treated as an outcast, at some point, when she couldn't bear it anymore, she left the coven."
But what does that have to do with her death?
Mia asked, confused.
I found Amelia wandering around in the woods. I took her to my pack and marked her Instantly, My pack was finding it hard to accept her because of her background. Despite the tension between the werewolves and the witches, we managed to overcome the obstacles and were living peacefully, until Morgana brought a matter up in the coven that Amelia and her children were a danger to the species and had to be eliminated.
Amelia's life was now in danger, and she was having sleepless nights, also worrying about her kids too. The witches couldn't kill her because she was under our protection. And other species couldn't also touch. But Morgana had an agreement with human hunters to kill my wife. I went to a meeting in another pack. I was told that Amelia received a message from an unknown person, pretending to be me. The message said I was in trouble. Without thinking, Amelia left the house and went into the woods. That's when she was shot with a bullet laced with wolfsbane. She died before I could get to her.
And what about Morgana?
she asked, her voice breaking.
We couldn't touch her because she was protected by the coven, and we didn't have any proof that she was the one who arranged all this,
I said, my heart breaking as I remembered how I couldn't protect my mate back then. I wasn't there when she needed me the most.
But how did you know Morgana had a hand in this?
Mia asked, her voice barely above a whisper. I paused, taking a deep breath.
She told me personally,
I said, my voice shaking. I asked her why. She said my wife wasn't meant to exist.
I let out a scream of frustration, hitting my hands against the wall. How is that fucking possible?
I asked no one in particular, my breathing labored. Mia quickly came to my side and held my hand, stopping me from damaging myself.
Please, stay away from her,
I pleaded, looking at her. Morgana showing up means danger, and I can't afford to lose another mate again.
I don't think she wants to harm me, Liam,
Mia said softly.
Mia, you can't trust her. I know she's manipulative,
I pleaded, hoping she would just understand and be on the same page with me.
I'm sorry, Liam,
she said. I can't.
Her voice was calm, but firm. If she actually wanted to hurt me, she wouldn't have asked me to ask you about her,
she said. She wants me to find her. And I need to, because my whole existence is attached to it.
She said, going to sit on the bed and I followed her immediately.
I sat there, quietly trying to figure out what Morgana stood to gain by doing this. Was she trying to torture me, or did it have something to do with Amelia? Was it some unfinished business? Wait, Mia is a white Luna. What if Morgana wants her blood? My thoughts were a jumble of mess.
Liam,
Mia called, placing her hands on my palms. Everything will be fine. Don't be scared.
I looked at her, trying to believe her. But my head was spinning with all the possible scenarios. Suddenly, the door burst open and my beta, Mark, came in looking worried.
A vampire is here and requests to speak with you,
he said urgently.
Stay here,
I said to Mia, and quickly left the room. Where are they?
I asked Mark, hurrying down the hallway.
The conference hall,
he responded. I reached the hall, and the door was open. I saw a pale lady. She was wearing a black dress, and her dark hair cascaded over her shoulders. Her red lips were curled up into a smile, and her dark eyes were studying me intently.
Hello,
she said, her voice slightly shaking.
No need for this,
I said. Go straight to the point. Why are you here? You know you could be killed for this.
She flinched a bit and quickly tried to compose herself.
I'm sorry,
she said. And I promise this is actually worth it.
I could see fear in her eyes.
Just speak up,
I said, my patience wearing thin. She took a deep breath.
I...uhm... came here to warn you about your mate,
she said, darting her eyes from me to Mark, who was standing close to me.
Mia,
I said, moving closer to the vampire. What about her?
I asked.
I...uhm... don't know exactly,
she said, but I see darkness around her. And my species is planning something terrible towards her.
I looked at her, my skepticism turning into concern.
And why should I believe you? Seeing that you are betraying her kind too.
I said, even though deep down I knew what she was telling me was true.
My gift as a vampire,
she said. I see the future. And I assure you that your mate's future isn't good.
I looked at her, unsure of what to say.
And how can this be averted?
I asked her. My heart pounding, the thought of losing my mate for the second time was already scaring me but I had to compose myself.
Her answers made my eyes open in terror. I couldn't believe my ears.
Impossible,
I managed to say.
Chapter 38: HEARTLESS MORGAN
Morgan's POV
I walked into the dark coven, a smile on my face as I passed the witches within. I went to the priestess's hut, where she was facing away from me, preparing some herbs.
I believe you have good news,
she said, still facing away from me.
Yes, my lady,
I said, beaming widely.
Go on, I'm listening,
she said, dropping what she was doing and giving me her full attention.
I have found the white Luna,
I said, my voice filled with excitement. And I was able to reach her.
I said, still smiling, waiting for her to applaud my work well done. But instead of looking pleased, she frowned.
I don't see anyone with you,
she said, looking behind me as if looking for somebody.
I didn't come with her,
I said, my smile beginning to disappear. Seeing she isn't pleased with me.
And how is that good news?
she asked, her temper rising. You were supposed to come here with her, not just come here and tell me you found her.
She was yelling now, and I flinched, looking down.
I... I know,
I began to stutter. But I just can't bring her without starting a war with the werewolves. And…
I said shaking, fear
