Trapped in a Haunted House - Maria Gomes
Chapter 1
Alone In The House
It was a dark and stormy night. Lightning flashed and thunder boomed outside. I was home alone, and I started to feel a bit uneasy. I tried to tell myself that there was nothing to be afraid of, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
I decided to go upstairs and check on the noise. As I walked up the stairs, I heard a creaking noise. It sounded like someone was walking around upstairs. My heart started to race as I reached the top of the stairs. There was no one there.
I told myself it was just my imagination, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right. I decided to go back downstairs and try to distract myself with TV. But no matter how hard I tried; I couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. The hair on the back of my neck stood up, and I had a feeling that someone was watching me. All of a sudden, I heard a noise coming from the second floor.
There must be someone else in the house. I grabbed the baseball bat next to the front door and slowly walked up the stairs. As I walked up the steep staircase, I heard a creepy noise coming from the attic. I told myself that I was being silly. I was used to noises in an old home like that. I reached the top of the stairs and walked into the hallway.
Suddenly I heard a rustling noise coming from the linen closet. There was definitely someone else in the house. I stepped into the bedroom and turned on the light. But there was nothing there. I walked across the hall to the bathroom and turned on the light. The hall light above the linen closet was swaying, and the baseball bat fell to the floor. I heard a hissing noise and saw the hooks on the back of the closet. I put my hand on the handle and it jiggled. It opened a split second before I turned the handle and I got a whiff of something terrible.
I stepped in and saw that the shelves were moving. But I couldn't shiver in fear. I knew I was in over my head, and I realized I had to leave the house immediately before it came after me. I closed the closet door and ran down the stairs and back in the front door. I was shaking and was glad to be out of the house.
I was also glad I left my food upstairs. I called my sister and told her what happened. She laughed and told me to stop telling her such stories, but I insisted it was true. She told me to go get some food and come over. I drove around the corner, bought some food and went to her house. It was raining hard by the time I got there, and I knew I made the right decision. As I walked up the sidewalk, I noticed a strange smell.
It smelled like sulfur. I walked in the front door and told my sister what happened. I told her that I was afraid of ghosts and told her about the strange smell. She laughed
