The Power Of Execution - How To Come Up With A Foolproof Plan And Carry It Out Perfectly - Garrick Woolery

    Chapter 1: Vision Vs Execution

    What's The Difference?

Vision is excellent. In fact, it serves as the foundation for all future major developments. However, unless executed, vision is meaningless.

This means that while having a plan is beneficial, it is insufficient to achieve results. It no longer serves as a catalyst. Consider the very common example of trying to lose weight. You understand that in order to lose weight, you must work hard and exert some effort.

If you don't lose weight on a diet, is the diet to blame, or is it because you didn't adhere to it consistently? The vision was to lose weight, and the execution required you to devote time, effort, and a lot of willpower to the task. Did you manage to follow through?

Another way to look at it is in the context of growing your blog. If your blog isn't growing, could it be due to a poor marketing strategy, a subpar writing style, or simply a lack of useful content? You may have the vision to start a blog with a large readership, but do you have the strategy and execution to make it happen?

Now, vision and execution are not limited to the business world; while almost everything written on the subject refers to entrepreneurs and leaders, they can also apply to everyday, non-business situations, as we have just seen. So, while many of the examples in this book appear to be solely about leadership qualities, feel free to apply them to your personal goals and objectives in daily life.

    The Effort Threshold

Let's assume, based on the working title, that each goal necessitates a minimum work threshold. You will not see results unless you put in some effort. The effort required will vary depending on the nature of the goal, but the rule is that you must be committed to following through.

Returning to the example of trying to lose weight: if getting in shape requires a minimum commitment of grueling workouts for three hours a week, you will not achieve the desired results if you only exercise twice a week. Similarly, if becoming a successful blogger requires 1,000 hours of productive effort and you only contribute 400, you're likely to fail. So, even with a good plan in place, results will not occur unless the plan is carried out.

Once again, vision requires execution to produce results.

    Defining Vision

A vision for personal goals could be anything from improving your health to mastering a culinary skill, becoming a better person, or even becoming more sociable in the workplace. In fact, it could be anything that boosts your self-esteem or makes you feel like an accomplished
