GOD Told Me to Marry My

Girl Friend

My first encounter with the Holy Spirit starts in 1975, a nice summers evening at the Hub or a friend was playing a prank on me. Much to my surprise, there was no one there, so I went back to the third floor of the wooden tower. Well, after a few minutes had passed, the voice came to me a third time, except this time it was louder and bolder than in the past two times. The voice again said, you need to marry that girl. Now keeping in mind, I had never knowingly heard the Holy Spirit for I was raised a catholic and did receive the training to listen for the Holy Spirt and discern what was happening to me currently. But the third time I heard his voice all I knew was whatever it was that upon hearing it I got up at 5:00 AM and called my girlfriend (Lynda) and asked her for a date. We went to Steak and Ale and ate a delicious meal. After eating our steak, I proposed marriage to her and she accepted my wedding proposal. Around Sept. 1975 I proposed marriage and we got married on

June 18,th 1976. We had approximately 9 months to prepare for this life changing event. I was almost 27 years old, so was Lynda. This was a big event to say the least. The puzzling thing was, that I did not know what this voice (Holy Spirit) was, all I knew was that I needed to obey its leading. Time was moving on, and about two years after being married and buying a house in Irving, TX., one night I picked up my Bible and read the first twenty-one chapters in the Book of Revelation at which I was in total dismay, yet excited about what I had read in God’s Word. I went to the priest at the Catholic Church where I attended every week. I had some very loaded questions that he could not answer for me at this time. I felt that I needed to dig further and deeper in God’s word.

Then I was invited to attend BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) which 600 men attended every Monday to learn God’s Word. Thus, five of us men carpooled to Dallas, TX., For the next five years. Oh, my goodness! What a blessing that was.
