About this ebook
True to life events involving campus rape culture, racism, and privilege in the Pacific Northwest around the year 2000. Gritty and unforgiving in its realism, this novella pulls no punches in fictionalizing heart wrenching stories that prove so much of life is not only unfair, but it's often unjust as well. From anti-rape activists railroading innocent male misfits as potential sexual predators, to socially connected sexual predators in the frats and athletic programs who benefit from this type of environment, where credible accusations of actual sexual misconduct aren't taken seriously by law enforcement. This novella also details the sense of entitlement and objectification that leads some sociable young men into becoming date rapists.

For everyone who suffered an injustice
without ever obtaining justice
…while the goat designated by lot for Azazel
shall be left standing alive before the LORD,
to make expiation with it and to send it off
to the wilderness for Azazel.
- Leviticus 16:10
Prologue
River's Edge High School in Lacey Washington
Jeramy Stevens was feeling livelier than usual when school let out, not just due to being near the end of the 1998 school year at age eighteen, but because of the fight planned between his football teammate Rod and James, a member of the varsity baseball team. Rod had accused James of being racist over the way he was behaving about Rod dating his ex-girlfriend and James hadn't reacted kindly to the accusation, so the two were going to fight.
Jeramy was eager to watch his teammate Rod beat up that jealous baseball player, as Jeramy and his friends walked to the park adjacent to the high school, where the fight was going to occur. Some guys from the baseball team were already there with a bunch of other kids.
One of Jeramy's teammates, a lineman, noticed that a member of the baseball team, one of James's friends, was carrying a baseball bat. What's that for?
asked the lineman.
I just want to make sure there's no funny business,
replied the varsity baseball player.
The lineman eyed the baseball player warily, but everybody's attention soon turned to Rod and James who had both shown up.
You like talking shit?
asked James. Why don't you talk shit to my face?
How 'bout I beat your ass, you fucking wop?
James pushed Rod, saying, I told you not to call me that.
Rod took a swing at James, but James dodged most of the punch. Then James clinched with Rod, as Rod shouted, You fucking pussy!
Before anybody knew what was happening, James, who was also on the varsity wrestling team, had picked up Rod and thrown him onto his back, mounting and proceeding to strike him in the face as Rod shielded his face to diffuse the force of the blows.
It wasn't long however before the lineman, who had confronted the baseball player about bringing a bat to a fight, snatched that same bat and approached James from behind, as the baseball player who had had his bat stolen shouted in disbelief, What the fuck are you doing?
The lineman took a solid swing with the bat into the back of James's skull, sending him to the ground unconscious.
Jeramy and his teammates looked at the varsity baseball players for their reaction as the lineman helped Rod to his feet. The baseball players just stood there, awe struck and visibly frightened about what had just happened.
Jeramy laughed and shouted, Fucking pussies.
Then Jeramy walked over to James, who was still lying unconscious on the ground. Jeramy jumped up in the air, like he was back on the basketball court again, and he landed on James's face, causing a resounding crack as James's face gave way to the force of Jeramy's weight pressing down on it.
Oh my God!
exclaimed a girl.
No wonder he got thrown off the basketball team,
added another girl.
Jeramy and his teammates laughed and joked as they walked away, leaving the baseball players and some other students to surround the unconscious James out of concern. Sure, some people were talking trash, but Jeramy didn't care. He would be leaving for college soon. He'd been offered a football scholarship in Seattle, and he was finally going to be leaving this town.
Jeramy agreed to meet some of his teammates at a party later and then he returned home. He was relaxing in the living room watching television when his father entered.
Do you know anything about a fight that happened after school today?
asked his father.
The question annoyed Jeramy, who did his best to keep his composure as he replied, No.
His father was a teacher and a coach at Jeramy's high school, and he always seemed to know more than he should about what was going on with the students there. His father seemed to always be looking over Jeramy's shoulder and it had been the most annoying thing about Jeramy's entire high school experience.
Good to hear that,
replied his father. Where are you going to be tonight?
I'm just gonna go hang out with some buddies.
Eleven o'clock. Remember.
Yeah, I'll be back. Don't worry. Can I just watch some television?
Jeramy's father exited the room, leaving Jeramy to sit there contemplating how excited he was to finally be headed off for college in Seattle where he would no longer have his father bothering him every day.
Later that evening at the party Jeramy had made some time with a sophomore on a break from her boyfriend. He had her all alone in a room making out. She allowed him to reach second base, but the moment he tried to reach down for third, she pushed his hand away and said, I'm not ready for that yet.
Why not?
asked Jeramy.
We hardly even know each other. Besides, I'm still with Rick.
Jeramy could no longer hide the frustration in his voice as he replied, Then what the fuck are you doing in here with me?
Okay. I'm done here.
The girl snapped back on her bra and got up to leave the room.
Stupid fucking tease.
Jeramy was sick of dealing with teases. He'd also grown weary of sex with the same played out sluts. He wanted something new and fresh. After all, he was the star quarterback for the football team. He should be getting the highest quality girls in the school. Once again, he looked forward to college thinking about a fresh new batch of college girls with no parents around to spoil the fun.
When he rejoined his teammates in the living room, one of them asked, How did it go?
How do you think it went?
replied Jeramy. I'm out here talking to you, aren't I?
I told you she's a tease, man. She's just trying to make her boyfriend jealous after he cheated on her.
I thought they'd broken up.
Yeah right. I bet you thought that.
Another teammate said, Briana was asking about you.
