Tricia Opitz

God rescued and healed Tricia Opitz when she was trapped in debilitating anxiety and depression. She writes to help others struggling with these mental and emotional disorders and so that those with loved ones suffering from these disorders can glimpse their experiences. Tricia writes short devotions for her blog on her website. She shares insights she discovers in Scripture to help others in their daily walk with Jesus. She chooses ten of these devotions every Christmas and creates a printed booklet to share with friends and family during the holiday season. Besides writing, Tricia volunteers at a local food pantry and clothes closet. She's addicted to funny, clean jokes and has filled a tote box with ones she's collected over the years. Humor can be an excellent antidote to depression. Proverbs 17:22 reminds us that a cheerful heart helps like medicine. Tricia, a retired school librarian, is a wife and mother of a daughter with a family. Throughout her life, Tricia has enjoyed writing and finds it therapeutic. Tricia resides in a rural area of northeast Oklahoma.

    What Others Are Saying

Tricia offers powerful words of encouragement and hope for all who experience depression and anxiety on this life journey. She provides a candid look into her journal and reflections on what helped her find her way out of her mental crisis. Crediting God's blessings of scripture, medicine, and faith, she is living proof of HOPE for healing amid the mental health crisis many face today.

    —Amy Patterson, MSW

Tricia Opitz candidly shares her struggles with anxiety and depression, a rapidly growing societal issue affecting all ages. She offers devotions, suggested activities, and journaling pages to support and guide those who battle these mental health issues. While there are no quick fixes, Tricia's insights provide a valuable tool to help others cope with these challenges.

    —Mary Strong, Retired School Administrator

Tricia’s journey through the valley of mental illness shines a light into the darkness of troubled minds. Her message touched my heart, as it will so many amid the chaos and distress of our current world. I don’t know anyone who isn’t suffering from overwhelm and often defeat. Tricia breathes hope into our weary souls. I highly recommend her book to every peace-seeking individual. You will be mightily encouraged!

    Foreword

Hope is to our spirits what oxygen is to our lungs. Lose hope, and you die. They may not bury you for a while, but without hope, you are dead inside. The only way to face the future is to fly straight into it on the wings of hope... Hope is the energy of the soul. Hope is the power of tomorrow. -Lewis B. Smedes

Tricia has found her way through the darkness of hopelessness, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and then finding wings to lift her higher as she found strength, guidance, and comfort in the Lord. Her journey is reflected in these devotions and can guide others along the path of hope.
