About The Authors
Introduction
T
he Identity Awareness Series is a series of identity development books designed to explore youth developmental issues and ignite discussions about self-respect, diversity, social responsibility, and behavioral transformation through everyday life experiences. Coop Di Leu’s mission is to revitalize today's youth's social consciousness and character while educating them about diversity's richness and multiculturalism's value.
The first four books are Volume I of the Coop Di Leu Identity Awareness Series. Volume I combine esteem-building exercises with diversity and identity education. Each book presents a parable that centers around a social flaw within the character's transformation to a mature adolescent, teaching moral lessons of personal strength and triumph. Adolescents and other youth find refuge in real-life stories, which brings adolescents' truth to adults' attention.
Coop Di Leu’s books have already gained a wide readership among young people and adults as diverse as the characters in each eye-opening story. Today's youth can make their voices heard by delving into these stories and engaging with the discussion questions provided at the end of each book.
Adults find this series helpful for restoring hope in their quests to reach and develop positive character traits in youth. Progress is now becoming possible because Coop Di Leu has written a series of mirror books.
These books help readers see positive things within themselves waiting to be recognized and appreciated.
As American youth become more diverse, diversity management knowledge is a prerequisite for effective youth development programs. The education process's cultural, psychological, and spiritual elements are often missing when adults impose their preferred values onto today's youth. Adults should understand today's youth's realities and take special care not to interact with them based on stereotypes. Lacking the ability to reach diverse youth can distort character and instill fear of difference instead of appreciation.

Preface
I
f you are a young boy or girl, and you are about to read this book. We want you to know that you are awesome! You are awesome because you are filling the gap between your academic and character development that will help you succeed in life.
The things that happen to Ken, Jr. and Greg, Jr. in this book start in middle school and go into high school. The lessons they learn and the adults who teach them give you lots to talk about and fun projects to try that will help improve your feelings about adults, family, friends, and yourself. This book will help you learn about what adults call social-emotional learning. Social-emotional learning is about how you grow up to like who you are, like others for who they are, and be able to control your feelings about other things in life. As you go to school, spend time with friends, and live at home, you can get distracted from learning how to be your best self. Being distracted can add more obstacles to your development. We want you to learn how to handle emotional, physical, and environmental matters so you can talk better about these things and build better relationships with adults in your life.
The people who wrote this book had the same troubles you will read about in this book. They want you to think about handling trouble before trouble comes looking for you! Be sure to tell everyone what you learned while reading about life in Dah Leu
