Never and Always Touching and Touched

One cool day in September, as Sally walked to her favorite restaurant downtown for lunch. She thought about how she had felt when she was thirteen years old. It was the very way she was feeling on this day. Sally was a tall skinny young lady whose light brown hair was short but well kept. She daydreamed as she walked. Then she asked herself, Why am I thinking about my childhood just now? Maybe it is because that is how I feel right now, feeling that I am not touched or touching anyone. Sally had grown up feeling that she was not really part of her family. She could not remember anything about her childhood before she was thirteen years old. For some reason this day led her to question all the feelings she had had as she grew up in her parents’ home. She has gone through years of wishing someone would accept her without always trying to change the way she was.

Sally wondered how she could approach her mother with all these questions. She wanted to prepare her questions just so.

She wanted answers but did not want the questions to hurt this
