Welcome to this Reading-Adventure
!
Reading and discovering stories during childhood is an exciting adventure, isn’t it? Whether they are myths, legends and fairy tales, novels, fiction series, stories take many forms. They send us messages, sometimes from the depths of time.
Reading, listening, discovering the adventures of the characters, seeing how they react to adversity are a rich and unique experience. This is where we discover the true strength of our imagination!
These are magical moments of sharing that for many of us remain etched in our memories, whether we have read them or listened to them. And yet, something is missing...
We often liked to hear and hear again the same story, right? We would have liked to know what would have happened if this or that had happened in the tale. If such or such decision made by one or the other of the characters had been... different.
In this Reading-Adventure
format inspired by RPGs, Create Your Own Adventure
books, a little magic and especially by our youth adventure series "Cathy Merlin", you will be able to CHOOSE and decide what the characters will do. You will put yourself in the shoes of a character, and the story will evolve according to your choices, good or bad...
So, let us go for the adventure!
Welcome to these "Adventures in Lençois", in Brazil, where you will live your own adventure in the company or in the place of Cathy and her friends!
Wholeheartedly,
Cristina & Olivier

How to read this Reading-Adventure
?
Before each adventure in real life, you have to prepare well. Plan. Make sure we have not forgotten anything, otherwise we could have problems in case of unforeseen events, isn’t that right?
This book is a little different from the ones you have read so far. In principle, all books are read one page after the other, until you discover the word THE END
or to be continued
when it comes to a series like Cathy Merlin
.
Here, it is not quite the same thing, because you will have to follow numbers to be able to jump
from page to page.
How does that work, you may ask?
Well, on the first page of the adventure, just under the number "1", you will discover Cathy who is about to start a new adventure in Lençois, Brazil. You already know a little about the region if you have read the first two volumes of Cathy Merlin.
This first paragraph (a group of several sentences) will explain a little of what is happening that morning.
Cathy, like you, has no idea about what is going to happen!
After reading paragraph 1, you will be requested to move on to paragraph 2, just below, and continue your reading.
As you will see, all the numbers of the paragraphs follow each other correctly, but on the other hand the story is cut into pieces
, a bit like in a puzzle.
In fact, the reading will be done one paragraph or image after the other, depending on what you decide. And that way, you will really get into the adventure.
Why? Because – very quickly – the characters of the story will find themselves in new situations. Sometimes easy, others more dangerous! And not everyone will agree on what to do. Thus, there will be several possibilities to choose from and that is where they will need you!
You will need to help them decide between several options, each corresponding to a numbered paragraph.
For example, you can read: "If you think Cathy should go up the stairs, go to 5. Or if you think she should go down the stairs, go to 8."
And if you want her to go up, you will have to read paragraph number 5, otherwise you will read number 8. And you will discover what happens according to your decision!
See, it is that simple, right?
If you are reading this adventure book in paper format, then you will have to go through your book to get to the number that indicates your decision.

All you have to do is turn the page and read the paragraph 1 !

The sun started to come in through the shutters and wanted to make its way through the bedroom. Its rays seemed to play with the curtains and invite the two sleepers to wake up. Seeing that her friend Cathy was still fast asleep, Caroline had gone snooping around the hostel. She had been careful to go out quietly but had not taken the time to leave a little note to tell her where she was going.
A bird began to sing. Little by little, as if responding to the music of the melodious trills, Cathy finally opened her eyes. She had a hard time lifting her heavy sleepy eyelids! Nevertheless, Cathy
