    Introduction

    "Be what you seek

We craft our world by what we say."

    - Tosha Silver

For the last decade, there has been a significant push for finding enlightenment, improving one's self esteem, self-worth, setting intentions, and manifestation. Self-help books have become the norm.  Self-discovery begins and we become disheartened or find ourselves stuck or without purpose. Who am I? How do I feel? What do I want? What do I value? Why do I keep finding myself back in the same place? Why am I unable to set and maintain boundaries? These are questions we often ask ourselves. Answering those questions seem easy to some because they have thought about it, but putting action and setting intentions behind those words tend to be much more difficult.

Maybe you haven’t begun the shadow work necessary for self-love and forgiveness. We need to give up the idea that happiness is to be found, when in fact it is within oneself.  This book embodies over 20 years of professional clinical experience as a therapist and my personal journey to personal enlightenment and unconditional self-love. We will examine our emotions and the idea that our suffering comes from within.  When we feel out of balance, it’s because our inner child is holding us back.  It takes courage to leave behind that what is not for you. With the same courage, you will find your way to resilience. It is the power in our commitment to ourselves and our intention for becoming the best version of ourselves that leads to our awakening. This is a process that will require constant review, renegotiation, redirection, and revival of oneself.

References to some of the most profound clinicians and authors will be highlighted throughout this workbook. This workbook is divided into 10 chapters, which include quotes for reflections, directed journaling activities, and opportunities to  review progress at six and 12 month intervals.

    Chapter 1: Personal Mission Statement

Don't spend all of your time trying to find yourself. Spend your time creating yourself into a person that you'll be proud of.

    - Sonya Parker

The reason why people often fail in meeting their goals and objectives is because they lack clear direction. Corporations use mission statements to identify their work's purpose, identify their goals, and to help leadership provide a sense of direction for the company. If corporations can do it, why can't you?  As individuals, we often center our identity and goals around roles we play. For example, mother, wife, father, husband, CEO, by our work titles, or by being of service to others. While being of service to others is honorable, we need to be of service to ourselves. It's not selfish to identify your own needs and to make them a priority. Your selfishness is self-abandonment, and self-abandonment should not be revered.

Each of us have a purpose and mission for the time we are here on earth.  We need to move from viewing our circumstances from the glass as half full or empty but refillable. Our goals and direction may change based upon experiences but the universe
