Vampire 101

Welcome to your new life as a vampire. If you’re reading this, it’s safe to assume that you’re either a baby vampire or you know someone who is. 

Yes, vampires are real. 

I know, I know, it’s a little hard to swallow sometimes. But the sooner you wrap your head around this teeny-tiny-little fact, the sooner we can get on with helping the vampire in question. After all, you wouldn’t have sought this book out if you didn’t believe in vampires.

Embrace it. Vampirism isn’t all bad. There are some pretty cool things about being a vampire. If you live, that is. 

It’s well-known that most vampires don’t survive their first year. They make dumb, avoidable mistakes and wind up dead for a second time.

Really, really, really, dumb mistakes. 

I’m talking like, neon sign over your head, flashing, STOP, kind of mistakes. You’d rather go swimming in a pool of pudding than be caught dead making these mistakes. 

Vampire 101 was written to help you and your loved vampire avoid becoming a statistic. We want you to live a super long and healthy life while enjoying all the benefits of vampirism. 

I’m betting you didn’t know that garlic is harmless to vampires. All this time, TV, movies, and books would have you believing that garlic would ward off a vampire and keep you safe from harm.

It won’t.

All those cloves of potent herbs hanging in human’s homes or around their necks. I love garlic as much as the next vamp, but ick! Lines need to be drawn somewhere. Mine is wearing garlic like a necklace. I’d rather eat it on toast. 

Sometimes, as vampires, we have to spin tiny tales to the humans in order to protect our entire species. Think about it for a minute. 

Let me break it down. Everyone in the whole world believes that garlic will keep a vampire away, right? It seems like common knowledge. Eat enough of it, and they won’t want to drink your blood. Hang it in your kitchen, and they can’t be near it. Wear it around your neck, and they can’t bite you. 

What would happen if garlic actually kept vampires away? Or worse, what if it killed us? 

We’d all be dead! 

Forget ever enjoying a slice of ooey gooey pizza again! Garlic bread, plates of pasta, soups, and countless other delectable meals would all be gone. Is there another seasoning worthy of comparison? 

Garlic is yummy. Enough said. 

Oh, and in case you’re curious, cherries kill vampires. 

Yep, those cherries. 

Crazy, I know. 

We can’t even touch them. We just start bleeding everywhere. From our hands first and then our arms, and if one makes it into our mouth, let’s just say it isn’t pretty.

Oh, you thought the bloodsuckers didn’t eat real food? You would, in fact, be wrong again. It’s okay. Most of us got this one wrong, too. You’re not alone.
