Life really got going for me when I was twenty-one-years-old and I started my first journey west. I am from the far eastern part of Poland and met a man from Amsterdam online. We fell in love, but even at the time I would have admitted that I wouldn’t have been as crazy about him if he didn’t also offer me an opportunity for a better, more comfortable life including a university education.

We had a four year marriage which lost his attention and mine about two years into it. In an unusual arrangement, I was fine with him searching for other women as I lived nicely and attended the University full-time. I cooked, cleaned and we spent a bit of time together, but not much. After our third year of marriage we knew we’d get divorced and it wouldn’t be adversarial. Things didn’t work out as we initially planned, but it was actually a good four years for us both. By the time the divorce was official he was ready to marry another woman closer to his age (he was seventeen years older than me). Did I ever really Love Mikey? It’s hard to say even now.

Within one year, I had my degree and a job set-up in Canada. And months later, I was back in another arrangement. This one, however, started a different way.

One consistent aspect of my life was boxing, kick-boxing, lifting weights and various forms of grappling. Every man on both sides of my family did these things and so did two of my female cousins and my sister. It was a big part of our small town Polish way of life. And when I say that, I mean the sport-aspect and the violence.

Apparently my physique and my overall fighting acumen got the attention of one of the lead instructors and he invited me to have a submission grappling match with Albert, a guy I did not know at the time. We had language issues because while Martin, the lead instructor, spoke some English, he preferred speaking French and he was stubborn about it. Albert looked to be about 5’10" 160lbs, so quite a bit taller than me, but slender and not nearly as confident as most of the men in the gym or dojo. I agreed to submission Grapple and so did Albert.

It only took me a minute or so to get Albert down with his face in the mat. I was sitting on his lower back and had his arm bent to my total delight. He slammed the mat, stood up and bowed to me, which was very sweet and quite telling.

The next fall ended with a rear-naked-choke, where once again he tapped out emphatically. But the third and final fall did not go as well....I had Albert in a headscissor-lock and I couldn’t see his face clearly since it was snugged up high into my hamstring area right by my glutes. I heard the lead instructor, Martin, saying something, but I wasn’t sure if it was to me or if he was even watching us that closely. Then he sprinted over and I let go assuming something was wrong...it was. Albert was out cold.

I had no idea, but he must have been between my legs unconscious for quite a while and he did not wake up easily or quickly. I felt bad about it and it wasn’t even the least bit empowering for me until I looked back at it a few weeks later.

Fortunately, Albert was okay and he didn’t even blame me...But then again, maybe he was too intimidated to say anything to me.

About two months later, a very handsome gentleman told me that he heard about how bad ass I am and he wanted to get to know me. He bragged about being a former professional tennis player, which surprised me because I had him pegged as a 5’9 170lb smallish gentleman. I asked him if he’s a Submissive because usually guys that ask me out after hearing about my exploits just want to get their ass beat. Richard said I’m not the kind of guy who’d lose. I’m sure you’re strong and tough, but...." He literally flexed his right bicep, which shocked me.

Men can be so stereotypical and arrogant, but it gave me an opening. A few days later we grappled and he had been serious about thinking he’d win. Richard had basic training but he thought he was a well-trained bad-ass, which is common among men. My ‘now husband’ was there and witnessed me knocking Richard out in a choke. I made a 4 with my legs and since I turned to the side, my eyes were off his eyes, so it
