Our First Blessing

Robertha Swint

December 22, 1942–July 26, 2020

I dedicate this book to my mother. What a bright and glorious star she was. Such a beautiful spirit and soul. She was so kind, loving, and strong. She had such a huge heart, always helping others and giving of her time freely.

We lost a true trooper. She taught us how to weather through the storms of life. She prayed for our family; she ministered to us, encouraged us, and loved us through our ups and downs. She prayed for our protection, peace, and for God's guidance in our lives. That was our mother, Robertha Swint.

No one knows the loss of love, comfort, guidance, peace, and a place of refuge until you lose your mother. She was all that to me and more. I am so grateful for my time spent with her at the park eating Whoppers from Burger King, styling her hair, and us laughing and building memories.

My mother always spoke of writing a book, although her words never made it to book form, her story, and legacy of strength, triumph, gratefulness, courage, long-suffering, resourcefulness, growth, perseverance, and faith in Jesus are demonstrated through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We are her living legacy.

Thank you for helping me raise my children into respectable, productive, and God-fearing young men. I could not have done it without you. They loved you so much.

Until we meet again, we will miss you and love you forever.

I would like to acknowledge so many wonderful people who believed in me, encouraged me, prayed for me, sowed into my life in various ways and moments in my life, those who had unshakable faith in me, and those who saw and respected my value and my worth.
