Journey to the Secret Place: My Story Along with a 6 - Week Devotional: Finding God
()
About this ebook
Journey to the Secret Place is an inspirational story of one woman’s encounter with God and where it has taken her.
Cheryl L. Orms shares her struggles with everyday life, revealing how taking a new approach to God can change everything in your life – just as it did in hers.
When she started making God first in her day, she was determined to listen and hear from God. After reading scripture, saying a prayer, and listening - God spoke to her. The word she received was a specific encouragement concerning her afternoon visit with her mother, who had late-stage Alzheimer’s.
In this guide to moving closer to God, she shares that the first step is to find a consistent physical place to seek Him. This way, you always have a familiar place as you develop a daily habit. By starting your day with Him, you’ll recognize His voice and guidance throughout the day.
Join the author as she leads you on a six-week devotional that will encourage you to walk with the Lord and make Him first in your life.

40716.pngINTRODUCTION
40644.pngAs you read the Bible, you soon realize it is filled with the message of God’s great love for His children. No matter what translation you prefer, the message of our security in Him comes through, if we remain in Him. So you see, there is a condition: we must remain in Him. His Word tells us He has plans for us.
† Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) †
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Many people love to quote this scripture from Jeremiah. Unfortunately, that is where people usually stop, missing the part that speaks of our responsibility to the relationship. If you read on, you will see that we are expected to seek Him.
† Jeremiah 29:12–13 (NIV) †
Then you will call on me and come and pray to me,
and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find
me when you seek me with all your heart.
The key is for us to seek Him with all of our heart. This book is an account of my experiences seeking God and how they dramatically changed when I caught hold of a deeper meaning in scripture concerning my responsibility to seek Him daily. I hope that sharing my experience will be an encouragement to everyone that reads my story.
Let me introduce myself. I am first and foremost a Kentucky girl. I’ve lived in Virginia for some time now and people here tell me that you can take the girl out of Kentucky but you can’t take the Kentucky out of the girl. And on occasion, I’ve had someone tell me I have a twang. No surprise there! I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and I graduated from the University of Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in secondary education. In my career, I’ve taught public school music K–12 for thirty-three years. Along the way, I’ve given many private music lessons, served the music ministries at several churches, and have volunteered many musical hours to my community. I have been married for forty-three years, and we have three children (a daughter, a son-in-law, and a son) and two granddaughters. My husband and I are retired now so we keep busy with family, travel, house projects, and volunteer work. In my newfound spare time, I have also been trying to
