Dedication
For my beloved husband Uday and my precious daughter Trishika.
This book is dedicated to you both, with great gratitude and love.
Acknowledgement
Iwould like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who have supported me on my journey as an author.
First and foremost, I thank my author friends Ms. Renu Prasad, Dr. Devaraj Raichur, Mr. Satveer, Mr. Gajraj Yadav Rewari, and Dr. Thomas for their constant encouragement. They were there from the beginning, giving me valuable feedback and believing in me when I doubted myself. I remember struggling with a difficult issue and was ready to give up. The feedback and encouragement from Ms. Renu Prasad have enabled me to continue writing this book.
I am also grateful to my teacher, Mr. Som Bathla, for his guidance and expertise. He taught me so much about writing and developing my unique voice.
My parents were my biggest supporters and critics, always pushing me to excel. I remember how excited they were when I said I wanted to be an author, even if they did not quite understand. They believed I could accomplish anything. I am grateful for their unconditional love and encouragement.
My sister was a listening ear and their biggest fan, always expressing how proud she was of me.
My husband has supported my dreams even when they seemed impossible. He is my rock, my best friend, and my soulmate. I remember how doubt crept in and I struggled to finish the book. My husband reminded me why I wanted to write, boosted my confidence, and supported me in pursuing that gift.
My little princess, whose excitement about my book inspires me immensely. I still remember her joyful face when I first told her about it. She eagerly waits to read it and cheers me on. My daughter is my motivation to believe that I can achieve anything.
Without the guidance of my teacher, the encouragement of friends, the love of family, or the enthusiasm of my daughter, I would not be where I am today. I am sincerely grateful to have these wonderful people in my life to support me in achieving my dream of becoming an author. Their belief in me is invaluable.
The purpose of this book
In this book, I share with you my journey of realizing that excessive screen use in my free time was negatively impacting my life and how I broke free of it. My goal is to raise awareness of the dangers of excessive technology use and to empower readers to rethink their relationship with devices.
In this book, you will find an honest account of how screens began to dominate my free time, the psychological and physical toll this addiction took, and the small steps I took to gradually reduce my screen habits. I also go into detail about the tremendous benefits I experienced when I regained control over my technology use. I hope this book will motivate others who struggle with excessive screen time to take small or large steps to live more intentionally. The practical tips and strategies I share should help any reader, regardless of age or background, break deeply ingrained digital habits and reprioritize real-world connections and passions.
While some level of technology use is healthy, I caution readers that an unchecked addiction to screens affects us all. There is a beautiful life beyond the digital world that too many people fail to recognize. This book is for anyone who wants to explore their relationship with technology and make positive changes as needed. However, readers looking for quick tricks or superficial solutions may be disappointed. This is a deep, thoughtful dive into how screens affect our happiness - both negatively and positively. My goal is to encourage a more conscious use of technology, not complete abstinence. If you are ready to live your life offline again, this is the book for you!
I also want to highlight why parents should read the book as well.
As a parent, I know how hard it can be to limit our children's screen time, while we adults often struggle
