Introduction
When something bad happens, you have three choices. You either let it define you, let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you. –Dr Seuss.
Chronic diseases are something that many people struggle with, and they can cause severe health problems and significantly affect your quality of life. Chronic diseases also severely impact your mental health, and they can cause a lot of tension and distress in your home and family life. To make matters worse, many people are told that their chronic diseases are their fault. They are told that poor lifestyle choices, genetics, and diet cause it. Then, they are also told that there is nothing to do about their chronic disease, that they are resigned to their fate and must suffer in silence while their bodies deteriorate and fail.
But that is not true at all! There are many causes for chronic diseases; genetics, lifestyle choices, and diet and lack of exercise are just some of them. But there are also many cures for chronic diseases. In fact, most chronic diseases, even the most aggressive ones, can be treated and managed with great success. This book will explore some of the alternative therapies available for treating, managing, and overcoming chronic disease. Fasting, specifically prolonged fasting, has effectively treated and managed several chronic conditions, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stroke and brain health, IBS, arthritis, and more. And I think it’s high time you learn how to incorporate fasting and other lifestyle changes to help you overcome your chronic disease once and for all.
You can feel good about yourself without being heavily medicated. You can have your smile back and feel comfortable in your body all the time. You can fully enjoy life again by using simple fasting tips you will learn in this book. Like many others, chronic diseases have affected my family as well.
I lost my dear dad in 2020 due to prostate cancer, and 4 years earlier, my beloved brother passed away, aged only 31, from a stroke. The pain that resulted from these losses led me to investigate chronic diseases thoroughly, just to find out my dad and brother could have still been with us if they had embarked on some form of fasting lifestyle. Knowledge is power, and that power saves lives.
This book will explore the use of prolonged fasting and other fasting models for improved health and the treatment of chronic diseases. We will explore what fasting is and how it works; how to undertake prolonged fasting safely; what the side effects of fasting are and how to avoid them; and what science says about fasting and chronic disease. We’ll explore the works of many brilliant minds and how they have used fasting protocols to help thousands worldwide overcome their chronic diseases. In addition, we will share case studies and success stories you wouldn’t believe, to prove how effective fasting is for curing chronic disease—even the most aggressive types of cancer. Furthermore, we will explore how scientific studies back all these claims and success stories to show that prolonged fasting is not just a theory but a valid medical therapy.
If you have been struggling with a chronic disease and conventional therapies aren’t working, this book is for you! Whether you want to prevent, treat, or cure a chronic disease, fasting is the way to do it. This book will equip you with all the information you need to take your health to the next level and overcome your chronic disease. By the end of this book, you will have everything you need to make the necessary lifestyle changes and significantly improve your health and well-being. Before we begin, I have one question to ask you. Are you ready to transform your life and beat your chronic disease? Then, let’s get started!
Chapter 1: A Body Without Chronic Disease—An Overview
Chronic diseases can upend your entire life. They cause many problems and may interrupt your daily activities. Therefore, striving for a life free from chronic diseases is something we should all aim for. But if you have been battling chronic disease for some time, you may not know what a body without it feels like. To help you understand what it feels like to live free of chronic disease and to give you the motivation to strive for a life like this, we will discuss what a body without chronic disease feels like. We’ll also consider what a body without chronic disease looks like and discuss the anatomy of such a body. Are you ready to learn what you will work towards in this book? Then let’s go!
What Does a Body Without Chronic Disease Feel Like?
A chronic disease puts a lot of strain on your body. It means that your body is not functioning optimally, and that will ultimately affect how you feel. You may already know that you don’t feel your best when you are chronically ill. But if you have been this way for some time now, you may have forgotten what it feels like to have a healthy body and live without chronic disease. You may have accepted your fate and thought you must feel the way you do. But that is not the case, as you will see in this book. So before we begin with the science behind fasting and curing chronic conditions, I would first like to remind you of what you have to look forward to when you no longer have a chronic disease.
What does a body without chronic disease feel like? Some people reading this book have been living with chronic disease for so long that they no longer know how it feels to live a normal
and healthy life. To help you remember what a healthy body feels like and give you some much-needed motivation for putting your health first and ending your chronic diseases, I thought it would be wise to share what a body without chronic disease feels like. A healthy body functions optimally. One that uses the energy it gets from the food it receives to empower you to do physically and mentally challenging things.
A healthy body, or one that is free from chronic disease, feels energized, powerful, and comfortable. This body does not feel pain or discomfort when performing any tasks. It also does not get tired easily. Instead, a healthy body free from chronic disease has plenty of stamina and endurance. This body wakes up feeling energized and ready to take on the world. It does not suffer from stiff muscles or joints when it wakes up, and it does not feel drained of energy just after waking up in the morning. A body free from chronic disease is also responsive. Unlike bodies with chronic diseases that sometimes feel a bit lagging, it will do what you tell it to and when you tell it to.
A body without chronic disease feels strong, making you feel confident. There is a strong correlation between mental and physical health. If you have a chronic disease that leads to feeling weak, tired, or unproductive, it will likely affect your confidence. Instead of feeling capable of completing physically and mentally challenging tasks, you will feel like you have no energy. But if you don’t have any chronic conditions, you will wake up feeling your best self and feel like you can conquer the world. Therefore, a body without chronic disease will be more responsive and alert than one with it.
Many chronic diseases also lead to brain fog. Therefore, if you have a chronic disease, you may feel slow or sluggish sometimes, especially when the disease flares up. But someone who does not suffer from a chronic disease typically feels clear-headed. This positively impacts their decision-making and problem-solving skills, making them a more valuable asset at work and home. Therefore, people who don’t suffer from chronic diseases are typically better employees and make better leaders at work, as their mental capacity and clarity are not hindered by their disease.
All of these aspects affect how healthy people think of themselves. They are willing to take on more work, challenge themselves, and put in the work required to improve themselves in all life aspects. They often have the energy to make time for exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. This also affects their self-esteem and self-confidence. If you can heal your chronic condition, you will have an even greater advantage than people who never had a chronic condition, as you know how much better you feel and how much more you can do now that your health is restored. Your confidence is also greatly affected by your physical appearance. So how does a body without chronic disease look, and how will a healthy body impact your appearance?
What Does a Body Without Chronic Disease Look Like?
Your physical appearance is greatly affected by your health. If you are healthy, your body can manage your energy levels better. You will also sleep better and have more energy during the day. And your immune system is stronger, meaning you won’t get sick as often. Therefore, a body without chronic disease typically looks healthier and more vibrant than one with it. But what does a healthy body look like? A healthy body will have the following qualities:
Normal blood pressure—Having normal blood pressure (systolic pressure less than 120 and diastolic pressure less than 80) means your heart is not working too hard to pump blood through your body. It is a sign of a healthy heart and a healthy body.
Normal blood sugar levels—Normal blood sugar levels are between 70 and 100 mg/dL. That means your endocrine system is in good working order and can metabolize the foods you eat effectively without raising your blood sugar levels.
Normal cholesterol levels—High cholesterol is a sign of poor health and can lead to many health conditions, many of which are even worse if you already suffer from chronic disease. There are two types of cholesterol: HDL and LDL. HDL is typically known as good cholesterol,
while LDL is known as bad cholesterol.
Normal cholesterol levels (LDL below 130 mg/dL) mean you are healthy.
Strong immune system—A healthy body has a strong immune system. It won’t get sick as often and will fight off bacteria and viruses effectively. You are less likely to get severely sick and more likely to recover faster if you have a strong immune system.
Healthy weight—If your blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels are normal, you are more likely also to have a healthy weight since your body can effectively use the energy you provide by eating. Having a healthy weight also increases your overall health and well-being. Your ideal weight is often determined with a body mass index (BMI), a chart that shows your healthy weight based on your height and current weight. A healthy BMI is usually
