Tina Divina

Tina Divina was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in Redondo Beach, California. She is the mother of a beautiful daughter and is both a poet and creative writer. She attests her life’s happiness to her unwavering faith in God. “For myself, spiritual exploration is about the personal search for meaning rather than adhering to the dogma of a specific religion. I seek to connect with the sacred in my own way; through prayers, experiences in nature, meditation, yoga, poetry, music, etc. Spirituality, rather than religion, focuses more on the cultivation of inner peace, purpose, connection, gratitude and living consciously. God is love and God is within me.” This is Tina’s fourth published book. The first two, adult poetry, titled Coffee Table Conversations Volumes I & II, and the third, a children’s book titled Closet Monsters.

    Introduction

Unlearning; abandoning or giving up past feelings, ideas, behaviors, attitudes, and biases.

As humans, when we learn, synapses in the brain develop pathways that they will use over and over again based on past experiences. In order to unlearn prior behaviors, our brain must create new pathways to get away from the old ways of thinking.

In life, we are either exposed or learn through experiences, how to navigate in relationships, challenges, emotions, and difficult times. There is no right or wrong way, only forward. Later, we may question our choices, or feel regret thinking that we could have done better, not realizing that those moments were an integral part of our growth.

Over the last few decades I fell in love, fell out of love, fell in love again, got my heart broken a few times, picked up the pieces, and carried on. I have reinvented myself too many times to count and over the countless years, what has remained constant is my faith in God and my pen to paper.

If life were stepping stones to a higher grandeur, then these are my steps. I write often, to declutter my mind, to reflect, and to understand. I am a God fearing woman and I know that it is my faith that has gotten me through.

    Dear God and the Universe,

I ask for continued love, happiness, forgiveness, and understanding. I pray to make the right choices for both myself and my child. I seek positive energies to surround me. I pray to do something powerful with my gifts and life lessons. I encourage your voices and am very thankful.

    Amen.
