About this ebook

This is a daily devotional on the Book of Joshua.  There are a lot of similarities between Joshua bringing the Israelites into the Promise Land and Jesus bringing us into our Promise Land, here on earth.  The Hebrew name Joshua and the Greek name Jesus mean the same: Jehovah saves.  You will see that it takes Godś divine intervention to bring them into the Promised Land and Jesus' amazing grace brings us into eternal life.  We thank Jesus for all that He does for us and we pray for the lost.  This book is easy to read, just plain old English.

    Devotional - Shalom Jim

    Day 1: Joshua- Jehovah Saves

Jos 1:1-6  Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, ² Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. ³ Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. ⁴ From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. ⁵ There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. ⁶ Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

The book of Joshua entails a lot of how Jesus takes us into the Promised Land. ( ref. book: Jesus is the Promised Land).  It should be noted that Moses could not bring the Israelites into the Promise Land.  Moses represents the Law.  The Law can not save you, only Jesus and His grace.  The Hebrew meaning of Joshua is Jehovah Saves.  The Greek meaning of Jesus is Jehovah Saves.  So this book deals a lot about how we are saved.

God gives Joshua some big promises, but he must believe, be courageous, and strong.  God calls those things that are not,  as though they were.

Dear Jesus!  Joshua brought the people into the Promise Land.  You also bring us into the Promised Land.  Your Word declares that:‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭1:20‬ For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.  As we keep our eyes on You and Your promises, we shall be more than conquerors and defeat the Kingdom of darkness.  We pray for that grace needed to be strong in You.  May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,  the love of God,  and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you.  Shalom 2U in Jesus's name, Amen

Day 2: Jesus is strong & courageous

Jos 1:7-9 Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. ⁸ This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. ⁹ Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and of good courage. Do not be afraid, neither be dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

God is talking to Joshua.  He is telling him to be strong, courageous,  and do all according to the Law of Moses.  Only a few people could fulfill such a Herculean task.  Joshua was able to do what was asked of him.

Dear Jesus!  The Father asked You to be like Joshua and lead His children into the Promise Land.  Not only the people of Jerusalem were at
